  • Hey

We are a family of 3. Im disabled so at home 24/7 and OH FT carer, so at home also. I get very cold and do have heating on a steady 19-20c GCH and have gas fire in lounge but rarely goes on. We have a 2 bed semi but do have alot of electrical items. Dual fuel cooker, WM (2-3 times daily), TD (use when wet only), DW (once a day), computer (on24/7), laptop, fridge, average freezer, large freezer, plasma, vivarium for DD's tortoise, all light bulbs are low energy, microwave, kettle, dvd players, stereo, 2 tv's upstairs :p all normal kitchen appliances.

We pay £65 a month combined  I think im paying slightly more than needed but rather this than end up with a huge bill..lol.

PennyPincher - I wouldn't be sure of where to start, but if you've got to keep heat on all the time, understandably, are you claiming all the possible entitlements you can?

It anoys me that there's always the chance that someone might be missing, perhaps just a little help, 'cos the right form wasn't asked for!!

Even extra insulation done for you free or dicounted!!

    Hi Flea,

We are in a 3 bed mid terrace with warm air (gas fired) CH and gas fired HW, all the cooking is done on electric as are lights etc. I pay £20 per month gas and £20 per month electric with npower.

Don't know if the comparison helps or not.

We live in a 2 bedroom stone house. Very cold so we have to have the radiators on a lot.

From this month I pay £33 gas and £20 electric

I'm in a 1 bed room flat in a tower block, I pay £27.47 for Gas and Electric combined. Orginally when I first moved in 4 years ago it was £24 for each!
After many cheques for overpayment probably totaling about £400 in total my DD is finally a bit more realistic!
I just use gas for hot water and gas fire in living room.
  • Hey

I called up my G&E supplier earlier with new meter readings as I noticed the last 2 bills have been estimated-although I had submitted readings.

Anyways, my Electic has been set at £55 a month and my Gas £6 a month  The only gas we have is GCH and the hob, so apart from cooking spuds and veg, our gas is mainly used only over the winter months as I tend to keep warm by socks, extra jumpers etc etc. I made a mistake in earliker post and our GCH is set at 17-18c...sorry :o but rarely clicks on. So have saved £4 a month and am pleased-I thought we were going to owe big time but luckily it had been estimated well and am glad I pushed to pay a higher monthly dd.

The meter readings I thin are pretty accurate as they run from Nov 2004 too today-so should take into consideration the cold weather, although I suffer more from coldness than i did this time last year, so may have to increase the gas anyway in 3-4 months time.
