Anybody out there?0

Now you have me worried! I took out insurance with them for my mums phone (not quite an iphone mind). What were the circumstances of the claim and what was their excuse for rejecting it?0
-
Have you complained to the FSA who regulate them? probably be a good starting point.0

It would help if, rather than ranting on two separate threads, you explained to us exactly how you were "attending" your phone, and why exactly Talkcover are refusing to pay up.0

Thanks Claire6hy, that info will save lots of people money I reckon!
In the end, I found that I could upgrade my home insurance to cover personal posessions, I have double checked and it includes pickpocketing etc. The only thing it doesn't include is unauthorised calls if it is stolen.
So the phones 4U insurance have reduced my cover to £2.99 per month to include that cover and also some online back up program of your contacts (haven't looked into that bit yet) and my home insurance have added the personal posessions (laptop, jewellery etc all covered) PLUS accidental cover on my contents which I didn't have for £76 extra per year-well worth it I reckon!!0 -
Hi all,
I'm getting a new phone from Orange - a blackberry. Should be delivered today. I wanted to know about phone insurance.
I've read Martin's article on it and I know Orange charge £6 a month for this. Seems quite steep to me, but I am also mindful of having an expensive phone that I may lose, break or have stolen.
I've had a phone stolen once, not lost any but have had a few break (seems the more sophisticated they are, the more vulnerable they are - my first Nokia mobile survived many a high level bounce!!! :rotfl: ).
So I looked into Talk Cover and it seems really good - about £50 for a year which sounds okay.
I will also check my house insurance.
Just wanted to know what other experience people have had:
What you'd recommend?
Did you put it on your house insurance and was it okay if you claimed?
Has anyone used Talk Cover?
Thanx everyone. I always trust what's on this site but it's great to get personal experiences...

I think Orange care is one of the best value for money insurances to be honest..
Most other insurances charge up to £50 to make a claim, orange is £15 but most of the time they waive it as a good will gesture..0 -
I've lost my mobile phone several times (left on trains, buses, offices etc) but because I have my home phone number printed on the back it has always been returned by the person who found it.
If someone finds your phone and you have a PIN lock etc. how do they know who it belongs to? If you are self insuring it is well worth doing: you've nothing to lose.0 -
I insured one of my kids phones with CUSC, just before Xmas, and lo and behold we had to make a claim for water damage. The repair was done quickly but the excess was £50 as it was a 3G phone. I didnt realise when I took out the insurance that the excess was so high. Now we are looking at insuring my sons C905, but for the extra £2odd/year I think I will look at TalkCover as the excess will only be £25 for a 3G. Possibly might try to cancel CUSC too and move my daughters to TalkCover. Any advice? (I still call them kids but both are at uni)0

there are some pretty bad reviews for talkcover - being unprofessional, un-cooperative etc.
would be good to hear experiences!:beer:0
