Agency's will still help even if your only after permanent work, my position this time is permanent.
Many have online websites that you can have a look at the jobs on offer before registering.

pnq06: no I havn't, but I'd prefer long or life term work/career. I appreciate your thoughts and efforts. Thanks.

surely if you need the money you will take any job

My husband did when he left a job for health reasons. He would work a couple of days to a whole week. Until he found a long term contract to tide him over until a job that he was better suited came along. He did these jobs as we needed the money.

He did this to illness sidelined him for good.

calleyw: sounds like you have a good man there. Yes I would try anything and, maybe your right, I should lower my expectations, for a while at least.
What niggles at me is, The way this country is governed, it would appear that I would have a far greater chance of survival, if I were not a full British National. I have absolutely nothing against any ethnicity, or race, but I can't help but notice the favouritism handed to none british people.

I really wouldn't go down this route STAGEMAN, it isn't a discussion for the Benefits board (or MSE at all).

I would agree with the others, you need to be willing to take anything. Do you not have a McDonalds or other fast food outlet nearby?

Sorry but certainly where benefits are concerned that's rubbish.

Back to your situation - as others have said it would appear that your work history/NI conts don't entitle you to conts based JSA and your partner's income wipes you out for income based. The same would apply for a none British person also.

It may be worth applying for LHA to help with rent and council tax benefit. Also I don't think you said how old your partner is, but if she's over 25 she may be eligible for working tax credit.

dmg24: Yes, I started to ramble on a bit. Tomorrow I'll take a look with "new eyes" and slightly lower expectations.

rachnbri: My Silly, bored, rambling. No offence intended. I appreciate your efforts. My partner is 20 years old, and a carer of the elderly. So out of luck there, probably. LHA I don't know what that is?

LHA stands for Local Housing Allowance which has recently replaced Housing Benefit in some circumstances.
