Spent too much on the grocery shop today.... :rotfl: good thing I'm not in the GC! Speaking of ice cream Petrichor, my son asked me to get some and we haven't had any for ages, I was shocked that it was £2.99+ for a tub!!! (apart from economy ones which are probably vile unless anyone knows different?)

I'm not a big fan of ice cream, but this is what I buy for DH and he seems to enjoy it - it's only £1.15 for 2 litres.

    Hi everyone

Thanks Suggs for starting a nice new shiney thread - having said that in the few hours since it has started I can't believe I need to read through four pages already. Thanks also for the links to the before and afters for yourself Starlight and Efrieze. You all look fantastic and a great inspiration to everyong

I am really going to try and keep up this time but apologies if I miss anyone out. I have just started reading from the start of this thread so I apologise if I have missed anything important from LW20.

Firstly I hope everyone is doing well and keeping okay.

Congratulations Victory on your prize - I wish it was me - and I'm sure my youngest son wishes he was you too. My friend took her mum on the Orient Express for her 70th birthday a few years ago. My youngest son is transport daft and especially loves train journeys (he has been on every train route throughout Scotland (with the exception of Thurso) for day trips with his dad and thoroughly enjoyed his six hour train journey from Glasgow to Kyle of Lochalsh only to hire a bike to cycle across the Skye bridge just to cycle straight back over again and then get back on the train to travel the seven hour journey back home again - mad I say but his idea of heaven!!!!).

Sorry - I am deviating now - back to original story - as I was saying - friend's mum - Orient Express - When he found out they were going he asked if he could go and wave them off. It didn't matter that the train was leaving from Edinburgh at 8.00 in the morning and we would have to leave the house before 6.00 to get there - which we did.

The train was absolutely spectacular and the porters/guards were exceptional - really friendly and attentative - and we were only there to look!!

My son and I were standing on the platform waving to my friend and her mum and one of them asked if we wanted to have a wee look on board. When I turned round to ask my son if he wanted to - all I could see was the smoke trail he had left behined as he jumped at the opportunity and was already on the carriage trying out the seats for size.

The porter was really nice and made my son's day so much he decided that this is what he would rally like for his 18th birthday - even though it was nine years away - he thought this would be enough time for us to save up for it.

Anyway, I'm sure you will have a fantastic time as my friend and her mum said it was the best thing they had ever done in their life and would jump at the chance if they were offered again.

Purplecatlover - you are not the only one who eats porridge at different mealtimes. I love having a bowl in the evening instead of an evening meal as I feel it fills me up and I don't snack later on. Unlike Victory though - I couldn't have it with fruit - I like mine to taste "savoury" and probably add too much salt than is good for me. The idea of having it sweet makes me just go "Yuugggh".

MissyG - (and Victory) great advice you have given to Procrastinaotr - I think it helps when someone has been through the same and can speak from experience

Pinklipgloss - Poor you - I know I couldn't live without my diet Irn Bru (got to be Barrs) - I know it is bad for me but you just can't get anything else that tastes the same. Are you allowed to send it through the post? I could send you a couple of cans if you were. (I could stick some Scotts Porage Oats in as well!!!)

Hello Wanttobeasaver and Cheesecat. You've both made a great start joining this thread - everyone here has been so inspirational and helpful and I know I haven't been doing as well without their support.

Retiredlady - wow - well done on your fab loss and your photos are great - you look so much younger and look fantastic. Keep it up.

Brightidea - I hope everything goes well tomorrow for you and the wee man. Will keep my fingers and toes crossed and hopefully it will be the news you want to hear.

Petriocher - I am like you - I can't eat a breakfast. I find if I eat a breakfast before I leave for work by 9.30/10.00 I am absolutely famished. I normally wait until then before having anything to eat and usually eat a box of blueberries or raspberries and a low fat yoghurt which sees me through to lunchtime quite comfortably.

Sorry if I have missed anyone - I'll hopefully catch up with everyone soon.

Anyway, I better go now - this reply is getting too long. Can I lastly post a loss of 1lb for the chart this week.

Hopefully I'll be able to keep up with the thread and post again soon.

Edit : Sorry - didn't realise how long I went on for. I promise to talk less next time!!!!
  • suggs, thanks for the new thread.

missyg, congrats on the weight loss :j . We have Tesco's Value Vanilla - it's really tasty - not overly creamy, and we add fruit, sauce, crumbled choc flake or what ever takes our fancy if we don't want it plain. Good luck with your blood test tomorrow.

marion, you do look younger - that's incredible, well done you :T

purplecatlover, porridge is great morning, noon and night - I usually have it for breakfast made with milk and sprinked with sugar, then in the evenings as a treat made with water (it tastes sweeter that way) and sprinkled with sugar. I would happily eat it for lunch too :D

vix, never miss breakfast, out of your selection I think that porridge is the one I would choose as it will last longest in your tum so you won't be hungry as soon as if you'd had frosties.

victory, good luck with the blood tests.

annie, did you get any good recipes for your oatmeal? I've found a book in my stash called The Mornflake Oat Cookbook which has too many recipes to list, but if you give me an idea of the type of recipes you would prefer I can list those and then post a couple if you are interested in them.

    wanttobeasaver and cheesecat, hello

    brightidea, good luck tomorrow

Could a kind person please tell me the syn value for Uncle Ben's Express rice? I expect it's different for the different varieties but just a general idea would be good. I'm hoping it's almost free on a green day but I guess it's not

Thanks for worrying BBelle, I've been reading but not posting. I'm still not trying very hard, but making all sorts of very imaginative excuses for myself. But I did go to the gym and I ....... j o g g e d .... for about 90 seconds. I don't really do joggingat all. (I did some cycling and some walking uphill quite fast too .... but the jogging was new.) I might work up to 95 seconds eventually. Very eventually. I had to make the jogging word small to show that it was very slow jogging.

Wow Marion, looking good! :T Bet you feel so different and better in your own skin.
I was very happy earlier, at the gym I got changed into my swiming costume and walked to the shower. My legs have always rubbed together and today was the first day they didn't!! My legs have always been a sore point with me, like my chubby hands, and I am so happy to see the difference :D

I did post my weigh in on the last thread, but incase it was missed. I had a small loss of 0.6 lbs this week. Which I'm pleased with as I was very naughty all week and was expecting a gain. :D

Hi - can I join in please.

Desperately want to lose weight for my best friends wedding in January - have a hell of a lot to lose.

I have a desk job and used to climb a load of steps at lunctime for exercise - until the Christmas holidays and my knees stopped hurting because I wasn't doing it - started again after Christmas - knees started hurting again  so stopped - will resume when I'm a bit fitter and have lost some weight as it won't be so hard on the knees.

Have got various fitness dvd's and was doing them 2 or 3 times a week until my Grandad had a fall so we're currently visiting him every evening in hospital so I'm just too tired to get the dvd on when I get home - so need some motivation to get started again.

Eat ok at home - just lots of rubbish in the office :o so need to eat healthy there and do lots of exercise and hopefully it'll come off with some motivation.

Marion those photos were great - thanks for posting them - I normally make sure I'm behind the camera - but that'll be a bit difficult for the wedding pics :p

    hi all!

the pics are SOOO!!!!!! inspirational and everyone is so friendly, so I thought I would post!

I have 5st 8lb to lose, and I am in my second week with SW

weight loss is at the bottom,

How do you guys handle going out and special occasions. I have my little brothers 21st during the coming weekend (going home for a long weekend), I will be stopping with family, who cook (relatively healthy) meals and we will be going out for a meal to celebrate LB's B'day(just hope it isn't Indian). Family culture dictates drinking (although most of my family know I am on a diet)

I was thinking of taking my swimming costume and hitting the pool, as all my family work. that way I at least get some excercise.

    can anyone suggest anything else?

Thanks suggs for the new thread and thanks for the read of suggs story, what more inspiration can there be than that! Amazing the journey you made, though I'd already seen the pics and new you'd achieved SO very much. Amazing!

Congratulations on the losses of Serenity, Annie, Raphael, Lois and Marion!!! What a terrific amount altogether Marion, you look so wonderful now, though a very cheery lady before by the looks of it too.

Welcome to wanttobeasaver, CheeseCat, fredsnail and louise and I hope you each get the successes you're after!

All the very best Bright-Idea, I really do hope your little lad has great success and can soon walk!
