Hello there, can I join this thread please as I need all of the support and advice I can get :) Anyway I have visited the local dotoct and she has agreed it s time for a little support to shift my weight - its not big but I can not have a future health problem as it may effect my HGV driveing

So weighed in at doctors at 18st and 9 lbs - 6' lad and I am only 25. I have been big for all of my life I suppose - from the moment I used to live with my grandparents from ages 6 and onwards I think.. So being big for the last 20 odd years I feel its time for it to go and to build my confidenance up again so I can start dating again.

On Thursday I had my induction at the weight of 18st and 3lbs (I lost some!) to the gym paid by the NHS for the first 3 months then I pay a reduced rate for the remaining 3 months. pending on how things go I am willing to pay the extra £18 a month after the 6 months are up. I did gym before back in 2003/04 and lost about 3 stone, but that came back from the stresses of work. But as I am now in a different game I can focus on this more. I Have also started a new job 3 weeks ago doing deliveries to a national shop (Beings with a W and have sons in it ;) ) which involes more "phiyscal work" - this is to empty the contents of the 45' trailer of some 36 odd big storage trolleys that you find in shops when they stack shelves, and reloading the trailer back with the empties and cardboard this takes about 45min to an hour to do. When back at base I have to empty the cardboard trolleys (takes about 15-20min) With this every day and going to gym I hope to start shifting the weight in a pronto style. I must admit though that I have lost someweight since I started the new job as the jeans are getting abit looser ;)

Also, younger brother is on the game as well. 4 years younger and 2lbs lighter than me, so at least we have each other I suppose... but the race is on! :D I have a goal really as I would love to lose 4 stone by xmas? is that do able?

So looking forward to speaking to you all over the coming weeks and months and helping one another

    Mick

I just found this recipe folks, it sounds absolutely scrummy. It was on the sainsburys website - hopefully as it's free to see anyway and now credited, that will be enough to satisfy copyright rules here. Anyway, the original recipe calls for 100g mozzarella, but 84g of half fat cheese instead will allow two people to scoff the lot for free in a SW green day (1 HeA each)

    Aubergine Bake

2 small aubergines, cut into 1cm slices
    1 tablespoon olive oil
    1 onion, sliced
    2 garlic cloves, crushed
    400g can chopped tomatoes
    3 tablespoon chopped fresh basil
    100g mozzarella cheese, sliced
    freshly ground black pepper
    1. Bring a saucepan of water to the boil, add the aubergine slices and simmer for 5 minutes.
    2. Drain, then pat them dry with a clean tea towel or kitchen paper.
    3. Place the aubergine slices in a greased ovenproof dish.
    4. Preheat the oven to 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4.
    5. Heat the oil in a non stick frying-pan, add the onion and fry over a low heat for 5-10 minutes or until soft.
    6. Add the garlic and cook for 2 minutes.
    7. Add the tomatoes and simmer for 5 mintues or until the mixture has thickened slightly.
    8. Add the basil and season with pepper, then pour over the aubergine.
    9. Scatter the grated cheese over the top and bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbling .
    10. Serve with a green salad and fresh wholemeal bread (if you like)

Welcome Leo/Mick (which do you prefer us to use?)!

Another male - competition for Ajax, Suggs and Mark! Sounds like your new job is going to be a help on top of going to the gym. Do you mind my asking how your diet is? If you can improve your diet too you could speed up your weight lose a bit, but do bear in mind that if you have a physical job you will need sufficient calories. Don't want you doing yourself a mischief!

Leo, welcome to our band. Thanks for letting us know about you. There are three other regular blokes here - myself, suggs and mark88man so you are not alone among all these hotties :) Just wondering... how much does your younger brother make "on the game"? :D

As for 4 stone before Xmas being 'doable'.. have a look at this post from earlier today.

    Mick will do :)

At the moment I am on begining of sorting everything out - the cupboard and freezer has being stripped out of all the goodies and nasty stuff. Like Chocolate, biccies, pizza and what have you - its those yummy foods that was my problem :o however it depends on the mood and time of the morning when I am on the road as going past them "frying waggons" in the layby is a temptation in its own right. My packed lunch to work I tend to take 4 peices of fruit, sandwich (tuna in wholemeal bread) with a yogurt. But I have only started this last week on the diet side.

I am focusing on preparing and making everything from the raw goods - so tonight will be a veggie bake in olive oil with lamb cubes with a jacket spud to throw in. This will be batched cook to save on pennies (after all its MSE) and feed over the coming dayes.
My big downfall and something I can't give up at the moment is my morning brew with 2 sugars. Its a 20 year habit and its going to be hard to break as it wakes me up after that :) I can't stand herbal teas... sorry.

That's just the thing!! It's not even a secret, everyone in the world knows it. It's hard work and willpower.

Just a few hours to go to the first match now, so here's today's games:
Switzerland (Lois Lane) vs Czech Republic (tagz)
    Portugal (bails) vs Turkey (katiepoppycat)

    Hi Mick

Don't give up your morning brew!eat-drink-smiley-5155.gif It's a British institution (having said that can't stand tea myself)! I've tried herbal teas too - taste like gnats wee! Fruit teas taste better but not sold on them. I have two coffees a day and then lots and lots of flavoured water.
