I'd just clicked on the mag when I signed up so its now automatically downloading along with total film

It could be but I would have thought you would still have the option to select a free copy. If you click on the main page again where all the magazines are listed does it not tell you you can have the copy for free when you select the little arrow next to it?

Got Total Film, but still no sign of Marie Claire. They weren't bundled together in the first download.

Gone back onto WHSmith site and it tells me that I've had my free mag so I can't have another.

Will see (with occasional refreshing) whether my selected magazine appears to download, and will email WHS in 24 hours if no sign of it.

Great Idea - shame WHSmith didn't invest in some decent software to run it on. Download speed was terrible - and after 2 failed re-installs and messing about I'm giving up. Rather go and spend £4 on a paper mag than spend any more time arguing with the WHSmith website to get it to download my free mag!!!!!!!:mad:

My download said I was getting Classic Rock (which I asked for) and Total Film (which I didn't) but I am only able to read Classic Rock as there's no sign of the other. As others have said, mine only worked once I'd received the second email from them.

I wouldn't actually pay for this in the future - the printed version of Classic Rock comes with a CD of bands featured in the magazine, you don't get that with the downloaded version. I can't see this catching on to be honest, unless the downloaded version of magazines is going to be cheaper.

well now got same problem as tigsteroonie now. but it keeps saying server busy so thats probably why. ill leave it 24hrs and see what happens.

I went to the link as posted in this thread.

I signed up for a new log in (I am registered with WH Smiths already but it did not accept my usualy log-in details, thus a new log-in is required).

Entered name/address, email and password and submitted.

Window popped up (so maybe disable those pop-ups) showing the available magazines (there were four pages of them).

I selected my magazine, it asked me to confirm my choice, I did.

It then went to another pop-up which said my order was confirmed and that if i hadn;t already done so, dowbload the download manager now. I clicked the download button, saved the file and then installed it.

Once installed it asked for my email address and password. Once typed in abutton marked 'test conection' activated, I pressed it and then it activated the 'Next>>>' button. It then just downloaded the magazine and also a copy of Total Film as a free sample (it was an older months edition).

Job done. Took about 5 minutes from start to finish.

So maybe it is pop-up blocker or aggressive firewall settings that is the problem. I was never once asked for credit card.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but it doesn't work !!! Software downloads but can't use because you are supposed to use a password that is sent by email....mine never arrived rendering the software useless! There is a link to a help file that doesn't work and W H Smith do not answer their emails so all in all a complete waste of a few hours would have been easier to go and buy the magazine and then, at least, I would be able to see it !!!
