  • The bad day continued for the banking sector and hbos ended down a wopping
7.3% (22p) to finish at 277p. Much merriment for ad and his chums, pity setmefree isn't here to enjoy it.

So much for their rights issue being a great opportunity..............

And who was the guy who said they'd be £7 per share soon enough? :rotfl:
  • On a sharp fall or rise you should consider if the reasons merited it. If not you know it will correct

Barclays went ex div today and bb results are forth coming with 600million shares possibly being sold by the end of this week, which is half the total in existence I believe. Hbos fell but bounced shortly after rights end as I remember, not sure if bb will

So further shortterm sector negatives there, I will keep on watching fnm I think
Get out now. If this does happen you'll be lucky to get a £1 for a HBOS share
    • Markets are constantly in a state of uncertainty and flux and money is made by discounting the obvious and betting on the unexpected.

That'd be yanty, our resident stockmarket guru!

HBOS shares tank over 7% today alone.

There's further grim times ahead for banks, most especially turkeys like HBOS.

It was if you paid 2.75 for your shares or less and then sold at £3 +.
Your rolling laughter emoticons suggest you are going short on hbos or are you just a sad individual.

Not disagreeing with basis of post.. but Barc goes ex div tomorrow morning ( or after close today .. whichever you prefer) , which does make a difference as ( all things being equal) one would expect a slight rise today ( people buying in / closing shorts) and a fall tomorrow

  • Yea sorry 20 aug is the actual date, not sure what time it is though? They fell today anyway and might even rise after ex-div I figure since 11p wont be the biggest news I just mention it as one possible (weak) direction among many others

I think of it as cashback incentive to buy if you were thinking about it anyway unlike normal where the price would strictly adjust accordingly
