When I took out my old RAM there was a problem with the monitor detecting input from the tower, so I put the old RAM back in and one of the new bits. Not sure what the problem was - would be grateful for any help as I now have a spare bit of ram that I'd like to put in computer and can't return to seller.
Thanks
did you make sure you inserted the ram in the right way and push down hard enough so the 2 white things at the end of the slot clicked into place0 -
Yes I did insert them both in this way and they had been secured by the tabs at the end clicking into place.14 projects in 2014: 3/140

When did you purchase the RAM? This thread is five months old.0 -
I bought it last week. Didn't have the money until recently.14 projects in 2014: 3/140

From whence did you buy it? Why do you feel that you cannot return the RAM? It could be faulty.0

I bought it from funky giraffe. I'm not certain that it's a faultwith the part as I don't really understand about upgrading pc's, the only knowledge I have has been gained from this thread. I thought that maybe the RAM had something to do with harddrive and that in removing the initial ram I would be removing some memory. Do you think the part could be faulty?

How much of the RAM is recognised by Windows? Using your keyboard, Press the Flying Windows key together with the Pause Break key. What can you see under Computer?
Have you tried swapping the new module that you know to be working with the other new module?0 -
the RAM has nothing to do with the hard drive0

Funky Giraffe is/are a trader, and - unless you bought it from auction rather than Buy It Now - is covered by the Distance Selling Regulations.
Anything you don't need or doesn't work can be returned within the usual timescales by law.0
