Best broadband/home phone package if locked into line rental with BT

Hi all,
I'm moving into a new flat in the coming weeks and have to pay the £125 to BT to connect the line, which locks me in for 12 months @ £10.50 for line rental unless I pay £70 to break the contract, which I dont really want to do.
I unfortunately cannot get cable in my area.
Ideally I'd have liked the Talktalk package with the free evening/weekend calls and broadband, but I cannot get this as I'd be paying line rental twice.
So i'd like to know ideally if there is anyway I can not get in a 12 month contract with BT upon connection. Or if anybody could recommend any phone/broadband packages that are not too expensive on top of my BT line rental?
Many thanks!

I have to say they are the cheapest around, I pay £50 a month for every TV channel, a V+ box, a 2nd set top standard box, talk unlimited and 20MB of broadband with no capping, soon to become 50MB end of the yearDELETE ACCOUNT.
