Jobseeking is driving me mad!

When I look at a CV I look at dates - 3 months in last role, 2 months before that, etc - I'd think "sketchy". It's always better to amalgamate temp roles into one overall period when presenting on a CV, it gives a much better impression.
And I thought I was just saving space by doing this! Glad to know it was considered acceptable

Thanks, I am going to set up as a wedding planner - I have done lots of event organising in the past so this will be a step up. I chatted with one of my ex work colleagues this afternoon and it is likely that she will extend her photography hobby and do weddings - so this could tie in quite nicely.
Good luck to all those on job searches - hope you find the right job when you least expect it.:D
That sounds great
don't forget us 'little' people when you're looking for staff lol

Absolutely, it suits both purposes. I have a phrase for people who I see with many different roles: "sketchy job hopper". Just keep that in mind and it will put you off separating everything!!0 -
I have been looking for a new job since the beginning of the year and it is driving me mad! I apply for the naff office junior jobs (even though I have experience and am too old to be a junior!) trainee jobs and jobs I already have the skills to do but I get turned down over and over.
Even work experience positions that are supposed to be giving people a chance to get into an industry, don't give me a chance (Channel 4...damn liars!)
I finally got offered an interview last week, have been told I didn't get the job by my agent but they won't give a reason other than someone else had more experience. (there's always someone with more experience...how convenient!)
I am perfectly capable of doing every job I apply for but never get the chance
Is anyone else feeling this way? Anyone got any bright ideas for how to get a job when I'm applying for every job advertised (I'm capable of)?
If not I enjoyed the rant so thanks for reading!
Big hug from trapped nightmare job in northants.I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0 -

Well you know, sometimes it's a good thing. There will be employers who know their workplace is crap and don't want another unwitting victim falling prey to them

I understand what you mean - but remember each job you take on is an entry on your CV, and something you need to explain later. At best you'll get a sympathetic employer who understands why you moved on, but at worst you'll be pegged as trouble or be stuck in a job you really hate.
Job hunting is just like dating - you're going to have to kiss a lot of frogs to find the prince(/ss)!0 -

fair point and good reference to the bigger picture.
so if you take on a series of definitely temporary jobs to gain experience and satisfy basic needs (?!) does that make you promiscuous? :rolleyes:For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 20070
