Thanks.
Just cancelled the RAC renewal of £153.50 (inc discount) and taken out AutoAid at £37.00, so a nice saving there (would be even cheaper for a spouse/civil partner as they are covered free!)
Hoping it will be a worthwhile saving!

I've been converted to AutoAid (Boncaster as the cover letter states, always gives me a giggle!) for the past 3 years. I've had to use them a few times, both in my main car and in other peoples' vehicles (since it covers the driver and not the car) and everything's gone to plan. Even when I got stuck on the ice in Feb when I called and asked for assistance they said it wasn't covered in the policy they sent someone local out to me within 20 mins as a gesture of goodwill.
Reimbursement has always been prompt and I'll definitely be renewing with them later this year!0 -

All, it has been some time since I was last here, good to see many are still making progress.
A quick update; well I've a bigger mortgage than ever and in order to have sufficient space for everyone, it'll need to increase further! Still, that's how things go in life sometimes. Trying to find a larger property but within catchment for the two decent secondary schools here means prices are high, and so far we've not found the right place... but we keep looking.
In other matters I've still kept an eye on moneysaving; took out Virginmedia deal (£50 from them and £65 via TopCashBack) and we switched to e-ON a year ago with £75 cashback. Latter discount period ends 1 May so I am now checking options and the cashback deals too. Still using cashback for online purchases and it mounts up over time.
Meanwhile the Tesco credit card generates points for cinema trips, restaurants etc and we just got 12months English Heritage in Feb using the last vouchers at 4x face value. I also try to stay in Marriot hotels on business plus use their credit card which means yet more points and this goes to hotel stays - Breadsall Priory later in the summer will be a long free weekend with just meals to pay for (anyone stayed there?).
The change to the Mondeo diesel has been most helpful averaging 44mpg even on the short run I now have to work (economy improves on longer steady journeys), miss the Jag but not the cost. Anything which reduces costs of motoring is good. My new OH just changed insurance, broker quoted £320 which was a big increase, but RAC quoted only £280 (with much better cover) and there was an additional £80 cashback on (you guessed Topcashback) - not bad with the recent hikes in premiums. Mine is due early June so I need to get quotes in May, hoping to make a similar saving...
So, all we need now is to find "our" home and then move on from there. It will be tough to get to an overpayment position as we'll only want a 19yr mortgage term at most, but, who can tell where we'll be in a year or so. Holiday will be Menorca for all five of us in the summer, which will be a great break.
