SmlSave if you mix a decent Single Malt with lemonade I'll have no hesitation in throwing you to the Highlanders and Islanders (Islay mainly in my case) to "correct" you; I may be English and from the West but I won't have a good Scottish Malt ruined!
(and I thought you were soooo sophisticated)
Mortgage free as of 12/08/20!
MFiT-5 no 45You can't fly with one foot on the ground!0 -
SmlSave - you're back in my good books for only mixing blends
Smf2 - you have an evil side to you! I'll have to post here until I get a new page to avoid that photo! :rotfl:
Taka - yes dentists get me white knuckled too :A and I like Bruichladdich as well (but don't have any "in" presently), but didn't receive any at Christmas
Regarding cat, well this morning he couldn't put any weight on front left paw; OH took him to the vet who confirmed he'd had a major fight with teeth puncture marks all over his body and possible abscess forming on his paw joint... so he's on anitbiotics etc and house arrest for a few days. I think I know which cat it is so will keep an eye out but you can't do much afterall.
Hopefully for our cat less damage in future but he loses his collar frequently I think in such fights! He's about 5 so I guess "late teens early twenties" in cat years and not wanting to live in harmony...0 -
Hope cat is ok, bless.
Saw this Stuart & thought of you: WHAT INVESTMENT MAG £9.95 FOR A YEAR, I've just taken it out. Offer ends this weekend.A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effortMortgage Balance = £0

Stuart - I did my stock up shop as you recommended. My cupboards were nearly bare prior to this because I usually buy as little as possible and make something with what I've already got. I guess they needed restocking anyway, I just put a bit more thought into the items I bought in terms of their usefulness in emergencies.
And... I'm in my mid-twenties and proud to brag that I don't have any fillingssee!

More car problems....
The wiring harness fault I had previously one year ago and recurrence with wire failure in May happened again today. About 0550hrs the passive alarm sounded and would only turn off if I left the car unlocked  I couldn't have the neighbours being woken...
Thankfully Jaguar could fit me in so they could disconnect the passive alarm meaning I have the car back and locked (main alarm and immobiliser are working).
However, the fault is indicative of the corrosion recurring in the wiring loom; they had a few more people with the same fault now so have more idea of the location where the wires are failing. They gave me a quote in May, discounted to £900 to replace the wiring harness and they'll confirm the harness price on Monday. I've then booked her in for early Feb for the work to be done.
It's a lot to spend on a 6.5 yr old car, but, I can't sell it in that condition and it was the risk taken for fault to recur; as I will need some £6-8k for replacement family saloon with whatever p/x I can get on the S-Type, money which I don't presently have.
So with this impact, I'll not pay down the mortgage yet and need to recover the savings further. Still, as we're 100% offset then it's costing us anything to have the mortgage other than the life and redundancy cover. Here's hoping later in 2010 things are better.0 -
Stuart we found ourselves in very similar cirumstances as you are in now, with a number of problems occurring one after another. We eventually decided that this was age related and it would continue to lead more issues. Hence the decision to change Mrs RT's car.

Hi Stuart
Bum about the car:mad:
Hows the puddy cat, mine doesn't go out due to a 'gut' problem, makes life much less stressful at times.
TPAxMFW - We've only gone and blooming done it!May 2013:j0 -
RT - original plan was to save for the XF and buy sometime into 2011... as I don't have £25k lying around presently :rotfl:However, sometimes needs must and plans have to adapt.
TPA - cat has been content (mainly) to stay inside and rest up; vet gave him two weeks worth of antibiotics etc and he seems better on his feet now, although stumbled early when moving after a nap... hoping it's just a case of battered and bruised and he'll be back to normal soon; he's been "fighting" with me a little and hanging his 5.2kg off my hand by his four teeth so that's a good sign.0
