Well I was impressed!!:rotfl:
Just plodding my way through the MFW diaries, hoping to start one myself in 2010, fingers crossed.
Well done Stuart for what you have achieved so far, only a couple of months to go. :T0 -
With the purchase of the laptop for DD we haven't spent vast sums on other items for us, but OH got me the F1 2009 game for the Wii which is keeping me out of trouble!
Stuart...thats the one that hubby is still waiting for! I take it your wife didn't order yours from Tesco:mad:. Is it any good? Did you get the one with the wheel, if so does the wheel part do anything extra or will the wheels we already have be ok?

Ah, sorry about that! In fact OH had ordered from Play.com then their delivery date was put back twice so she canceled it and bought locally from Game with the wheel (and paid a premium over Play of course). The game is very good but when i tried without traction control on I was spinning in circles. The wheel is good, but, the Mario Kart wheel is just as helpful in balancing your handset for steering which is what I guess you have?
See if you can get it elsewhere (in the sales - Play will have a few from us and others who canceled orders before Christmas!) and cancel the Tesco one if you can.

Just entered the meter readings for 13-31/12/09... electricity is averaging 22kWh per day but gas is a staggering 75kWh per day; this is due to house being occupied daily since schools finished day early due to snow and of course the low temperatures. Thermostat still at 18°C and we do snuggle up in blankets on the sofa if chilly, although I bought OH one of those sleeved rugs which I understand is nice and warm, and hopefully help over the cold and cough which is leaving her with low breathing capacity due to her asthma.
Key things today - final clearing following our evening last night which finished about 0115hrs but I then chilled out for a while watching David Gorman - then came round at 0300hrs having dropped off to sleep!Phone call of a verbal text from DD's friend at 0705 was not particularly welcome.
So hope to stay awake today... need to see Dr Who and record final episode of Torchwood - Children of Earth (missed it originally) which is very heavy. DD is enjoying it but a little scared at 12, although she does now admit she likes Sci-Fi and enjoyed the BBC Day of the Triffids this week too (snuggled up in a blanket or cuddling me :A ).
Hope all here have clear heads, or at least, a clear house and peace and quiet otherwise!0 -
I am too scared to even check my meter readings this month. But snow hasn't melted here yet in Scotland where we live and it is very chilli

Well, we watched final episode of Torchwood yesterday and wasn't it a disturbing one! Anyway DD (and OH
) have slept without nightmares since!
Back to work today and getting up at 0500hrs was a bit of a shock to the system compounded by -5°C when I went out to scrape the frost off the car; I know some of you have had colder temperatures and it seems we are in for a "real" winter across the whole country this year - roll on April!
New ski jacket and trapper hat kept me warm first thing though and I don't care about the hat not being well received by colleagues at work; wait until the snow falls and I still have a warm head despite 3mm long hair (where present) :j
Mortgage payments in today for £650 leaving £8300 owing on the mortgage, savings doing ok but need to improve finances for months ahead.
Just looking into what's next for first of DD's Growth Bonds from Post Office which is maturing; Growth Bond 10 is closed (was 3.75%) and no replacement yet, we're being offered 3.5% for 12months and checking online comparisons this seems quite good overall... only have a few days to confirm to reinvest plus any additional cash form her lower interest savings account though so I'll need to sort this week. Alternative is to wait until the second bond matures in July (?) and then roll in together; decisions decisions, not easy to predict interest rates presently other than that they are likely to rise...0 -
Markets have been good to me overnight and every fund we hold is now in profit including our holdings in Neptune Russia & Greater Russia (which we haven't added fresh cash to during 2009).
So a 12.33% profit now showing on holdings (or 9.59% if we account for previous losses/costs) which is a nice change from -49% loss on holdings at 4 December 2008 in my thread (nice to have it recorded).
With oil & gas prices rising, Russia is likely to grow in value, but the economy worldwide needs to be more positive to see increased demand for minerals etc. 2010 will be an interesting year all round I think.0 -
