BOS have just launched a new bonus saver:

    http://www.bankofscotlandhalifax.co.uk/savings/BOSinstantaccesssavingsaccountreward.asp

As the BOS web site says the IASA can be the nominated account this can get you 6.5% in the nominated account to get you 12% on the RS instead of 6.25% with halifax Gaurenteed Saver..

Anyone kicking themselves for opening this account early??:rotfl:

I could see where they said the nominated account could be instant access savings account, but it didn't say anywhere where I could see that it could be the reward version of this account as a nominated account?

    £23k @ 8.77% - anyone beat that?

    £5k in GSR @ 6.25%

    start with £18k in 1 6.5% account
2x £500pm into Hx RS @ 12% linked to joint GSR
    2x £250pm into A&L RS @ 12%
Now come on LTL, play fair!!!!!!
You are bringing external organisations for the RSs in a Halifax thread, lol

Take a look at the last couple of pages here ( post 57 onwards):

I reckon that the "reward" status is purely based on funding and withdrawal behaviour but the accounts are the same.

Richcope1 asked if anyone could do better than a combination of KE and Hx. I reckon that 8.77% is currently the highest, because if you start putting more into a RS account the interest rate will start to get watered down (apart from A&L/Abbey fighting over 15% accounts, iirc, that require investment products).

All's fair in love and war...;)
You've never seen me, but I've been here all along - watching and learning...
  • Opened the 10% regular saver online and paid in the first payment by cheque at a counter in a local branch, took a few minutes, very quick, no hard sell or need to see an advisor.

i tried to open on line and failed.i tried to open at branch and was told i needed an appointment and would recieve a call to book this.i received no call, tried a further 3 times with an identical response!

invested with abbey instead very easily

Why the sarcasm? Just a bit of fun.
Good on you for thinking of it.
A&L would be a bit of hassle in that two accounts would need to be funded with £500 each month but that's easy enough to fix. Send the £250 to the account a few days before the SO to RS and withdraw and pay back in. Are quidco still offering £50 ? Then that's another £100 .....
    making that 9.2%
Am I in the lead again for the quidco bit?:D

Sorry Sloughflint, wasn't intended to read sarcastically, I read it with a laugh - will have to be careful what icons I use!

Yup, I can't beat that one.

To Sloughflint: It seems such a grey area after reading all that I'll save the hassle and stay as I am. +0.25% after tax on £5000 isn't a lot anyway.

    I agree. I'm sticking to:

Kaupthing Edge as a drip feeder @ 6.5%
Halifax Guaranteed Saver Reward @ 6.25%
    Halifax Regular Saver @ 12%

Otherwise it gets too complicated and there's too much to remember each month!

I also took out a Birmingham Midshires 1 year fixed rate bond @ 7.11% so I'll put a sum in there, and anything else will go to KE.

I would have given up too and gone elsewhere. I realised afterwards that I have an account with them through work, so this might have helped any quick online checks, or whatever they do, and I've also had less trouble with things like this since being at the same address for a while. They also claimed you needed IE6 or above for it to work, which I didn't use.
