Also can I just put £25 in today just so that the account is funded by the 20th then put the other £475 in by online transfer as long as that gets there by the 28th or does it have to be the whole £500 by the 20th?

!!!!!! Im soooooooo confused now, think Im gonna have to ring them up aren't I,which I wanted to avoid- hence doing all my banking online.

Still Im glad I read this thread otherwise I would have lost out big time. Thanks everyone.

ringing them up isn't going to help. they're idiots, they'll just tell you whatever they feel like..... as i understand it, you just need to get money into the account by the closing date in order to activate it, you could then top it up (by SO only in theory) to the total of £500 as long as the 2nd payment was cleared by the end of the month. otherwise it would count as next month's money instead. i'd make sure i took money down to the branch asap if i were you.

OK Im gonna wrestle my one year old into the pushchair and zoom down to the town and pay in all the money I can find in my purse(about 340 I think) then come back and amend the standing order for tomorrow by that amount so overall the same toatl will be in by the end of this month.

Im beginning to think the 10% rate is partly compensation for having to put up with their awful customer service.

    Thanks again.
  • Hi everyone.

I was wondering if anyone could answer a question I have regarding this Halifax regular saver account.

I have opened a Halifax regular account today & logged into view it. I created a standing order from another Halifax account to the regular saver, but it hasn't completed yet. :S Are standing orders online from one Halifax account to another not instant? If not how long do they take? because I currently have £0.00 in the regular saver but I need to have money in it by the 20th!

    Please help.

My father deposited £25 into the account today to make sure its up and running. I just want to clarify 2 things:

1). Is it OK to transfer in another £475 before the 28th July to make it £500 for the first month?

2). Do I have to use SO? I would much rather use bank transfers as I am not sure how much I will be transferring each month. Will I be violating the T&Cs by funding the account by bank transfers instead of SO? Ideally I could set up a standing order of £25 each month to meet the minimum and then top up to the full £500 when I can. Is this ok?

Sorry if these questions have been asked numerous times already but I haven't been able to find any clear answers about this and being out of the UK at the moment I can't really ring them or go into a branch.

    1) Yes that's fine
    2) bank transfer for any amount 25-500 is also fine but just don't forget so maybe a SO for £25 is wise.

    James12. Not instant,no.
Just set up your SO for tomorrow's date and then amend the SO after it's gone through to the first of August.
  • OK sloughflint, I will do just that.

    Thanks a lot :T

Have you managed to get any money into the account to set it up?
I had the same problem so I called into my local branch today and they did everything, including setting up the SO, in a few minutes.
Now it`s all up and running and can be viewed online.
