yeah i've just managed to add it to my accounts, as i phoned up saturday.
it says 'awaiting details' and says they need to confirm my ID......what a joke!!! i've banked with them for years, have multiple accounts with them and had to pass security questions when phoning up, yet they still need to confirm my ID!!!!! :wall:
just managed to create a SO from my current account but whether it will go through, i doubt it............0 -
They don't really need your ID.
They will send you a form to sign within 5 days. Just sign it and return to your branch or using the supplied prepaid envelope. No ID required.0 -

Take ID just in case. Despite having mortgage and other account with them, branch did check my ID and were especially insistent on checking signature on form, so make sure you take something with your signature on it.0 -
I transferred £425 and £74 from Barclays straight into Reg Saver and each appeared two day's later. Transferred £1 to make up the £500 and it appeared almost immediately. Anyone any idea of the maximum for same day transfers between the 1 and 74? It does show on the APACS site as being in the scheme.0

Is it worth putting 5k in the 6.25% account to get 12%, or would I be better with it in Kaupthing at 6.5% and the reg saver at 10%?
Also if I don't bother with the 12%, what is the best nominated account to open, or does it not really matter?
Sorry if this has been covered but this is a long thread.0 -

The breakpoint is around 5.85%. So if you get the Guaranteed Saver (Reward) at 6.25% ..... that makes it beneficial to go for the 12%. (covered much earlier in the thread)If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -
Have read quite a few pages on here... but not sure if this has been discussed...
I closed my 7% RS today and opened a new one with the Guaranteed Saver account.....
I do not particularly want to fix my 5k anywhere else. But I was thinking 6.25% is okay.... and if I really need it, I can take it out...... and maybe RS will go down to 10% but that's okay.
If I fixed my 5k somewhere else and needed it, I am guessing I would have a penalty/ lose interest?
Anyone thinking the same... or have I missed something?0 -

If you need all the funds and close the account, as this would have been your nominated account, I suppose you'd have to open a websaver and try to get Halifax to amend the RS to link up to this new nominated account. Bit messy. Hope you don't need the 5k for a year.0 -
sorry if this is going to sound so silly amoungst you saavy savers.....
but i want to try and start saving... we put £10 per week away from hubby's wages but that is 'emergancy money'...
i want to start saving £25 per month, but if i can afford to save more i will make another payment...
i know it is only a little amount, but is it worth me opening the halifax saver account at 10%, i was going to try and stooze but not quite ready for that yet...
as i say i know its olny a small amount each month, but its a start....Work to live= not live to work0 -
Go for it! Minimum amount is £25 so why not?
A&L pay 12% for anything between £10 and £250 per month but that requires you to open a current account too.
