Now that is interesting.
I know someone running an LPG BMW 540i and he believe his fuel costs are the same as a 40-44mpg diesel, not bad for a V8 petrol.0 -
I'm planning on converting a 2.5L V6 Suzuki Grand Vitara Automatic. It'll be equivalent on a 40MPG Petrol Car when it's done0

Hi could those of you who had their cars recently converted let me know what price you are charged for the conversion, or let me know the contact details of the company so I can give them a call myself and get a quote. Pm me if contact details cannot posted on the forums due to forum rules? Thanks.0

Just registered to say that I recently bought a car with an lpg conversion already done on it several years ago and didnt get any certificates with it. I just had to declare my car had been modified and the insurance were happy with that.
And had a little giggle at the 'extra heat makes stuff break' comments. LPG burns hotter but the engine runs at the normal temperature thanks to the modern wonders of water and fans.
Dont want to get in the way of a good scare story though0 -
The engine temperature is determined by temperature sensors which are mounted usually in the coolant flow and exhaust.
Engine temperature sensors do not directly monitor the temperature of valves or valve seats, or piston crowns.
Don't want to let the facts get in the way though0 -

I paid £1200 in Jan 08 fitted, with doughnut tank (fits into spare wheel well). That was for a RSI multi point injection system.
I only do average mileage, but I have recovered just under £400 so far.0 -

yes we are all giggling too. so do you know where the extra heat goes? does it just stay inside the cylinder? is it not transfered to every other part of the engine?
i work on lpg systems, have done for years. a good traffic jam in the middle of summer will sort you out though. enjoy the hard shoulder with a burst radiator hose....work permit granted!0 -

I’d guess the extra heat gets rejected via the cooling system just like the normal heat. I expect a fair bit disappears down the exhaust pipe too0 -

I personally have no idea, but asked a question along these lines on this other forum and this is the reply from some of the best LPG people about, so if Goldspanners is a fitter, then even those that do LPG conversions can't agree ............? Anyway, this was the reply to my question about heat and all the following folks say it aint a problem............
