Info regarding getting my car converted to LPG
Really what i want to know is do the Government still give a grant to help you pay to get this service done.If so how do i go about getting it.
As the price of fuel is beyond a joke now i was thinking is it worth getting my car converted to LPG. for a start its half the price of unleaded and over the year i was thinking it would more or less pay for the conversion what i had saved in fuel.
Thanks for any help.

I think it will depend on the age of your car - and the grant only applies to new cars......:TProud to have lived within my means all my life :T0

the car is a 2003 model, is that new enough or has it got to be a year old.0

Google 'Prinz multipoint system' as they seem quite good. Beware that lpg burns at higher temperatures than petrol and you may find your engine not so capable of dealing with such temperatures as others.0

i was reading on site called the greenfuel company and they say if anything it makes your engine run better, but that could be just their spin to get you to convert.
Like i say if the government isnt doing the grants to help you convert to LPG i doubt i will be getting it done anyway.0 -

yes it is just spin,it wont make your engine run any better.
be aware that you will use more lpg than petrol so its not as straight forward as you would think.
also servicing these and insuring them is another cost you should be thinking about,as your insurance premium will go up,and maintenance on the lpg system will increase service costs, and reduce service intervals....work permit granted!0 -
Surely they cannot be allowed to say things about the benefits of LPG if its not true like what they say on that site i mentioned.0

is there something wrong with your engine when its run on petrol?
if not then why would lpg make it run better,it will make it run hotter quicker, which means stress on every component under the bonnet, hoses will become brittle and leak due to the exta heat going through them with enough time, especially if its used for short journeys often....work permit granted!0 -
I know someone who DIY fitted a kit they bought 2nd hand on Ebay.
They said that it's about 80% less mpg than petrol, but the fuel is about half the price of petrol. So looking at around 60% of the cost per mile.Happy chappy0 -
See now this is whats worrying me on certain sites they say there is very little difference between petrol and LPG regarding MPG and these sites are proper ones.0

It's still cheaper though.Happy chappy0
