We are getting married on a Monday and have done a deal on both car and photographer.

The venue also doesn't have a minimum number of guests on weekdays either.

One thing to consider though is that the registrar will charge extra for Sunday's sometimes it can be quite a bit depending which local authority area you're in.
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended :p

27/09/08 will be our first anniversary!!

Can't help you with reductions, we're getting married on popular old Saturday, in fact I don't know if my church do weddings on other days... But I know they definately won't marry you on a Sunday...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

  • Our Church is doing our on a Friday, but we did have the option of having it on a sunday, but we thought not to as people would like to stay over and stay at the party late and not have to think about going home early because of work.

Our hotel/venue did 20% off for us if we had it on a friday or sunday. So we picked a friday! We weren't really that fussed by what day we had. So we just went for it! :D

Going to buy a set of 10 magnets and give them to our closest family as an extra gift, as i think anymore would be a bit of a waste in our budget. :p

PS Im going to ask a student photographer to do our wedding, so it boosts there profile etc and we get someone whos almost qualified but for a cheaper price!
I'm getting married in August 2015

  • Add me to the list please.Getting married to the man of my dreams 5th November 2009.That will be the date we celebrate 18 years together by eventually biting the bullet and getting hitched at last.

  • The thing about starting to plan so far in advance,we were engaged last summer,is that there is just too much opportunity to keep changing your mind about things. The only thing I have not changed my mind about is the venue although I did have a brief wobble on that aspect too.

*Venue booked and deposit paid,£750(its a castle)
*Colour theme decided on, purple with white and a touch of silver.
*Wedding flowers to include purple lisianthus and thankfully its a winter flower. Will arrange them myself. How hard can it be, and I quite like a wild handpicked look anyway.
*Wedding dress,I keep changing my mind!!!
*Stationery will be white with purple and silver detail, made by daughter aged 6.
*Food will be made ourselves(because the caterer wanted to charge over £100 a head for what we wanted) and served by the housekeeper and staff,a 6 course minimum highland extravaganza featuring a whole side of venison stuffed with haggis and an elderberry wine sauce(Food is the most important thing at our wedding as hubby 2B is a real foodie)
*music will be a combination of a string quartet,Sa Masia, during ceremony and meal,£550 for 3 hours(booked)our kids playing violin and a CD of music for dancing later in the evening.
*photography and video, all DIY,everyone will bring their own cameras etc.
*the celebrant, have been in touch via e-mail with celebrant near the venue but thinking about contacting one nearer to us so we can meet them more easily and paying the extra transport costs for getting them to the venue.
*cake will be M&S 3 tier with 3 flavours(the biggest tier will,be chocolate sponge, yummy!) decorated with purple and silver flowers and ribbon.Saving up piggypoints for m&s vouchers to pay for it.
*alcohol will be mainly from tesco using clubcard vouchers and we will have a special oak leaf sparkling wedding wine from Cairn'o'more winery.
*rings will be platinum bands from Argos.Saving up points for vouchers to help pay for those.
    What have I forgotten???
*bridesmaids dresses for daughter and niece will be decided after I choose my dress. Will buy in a sale or from ebay.
*groom has decided on his style of outfit but it doesnt actually exist so we may have to get it made for him.
*wedding jewellery I am hoping my SIL will make it as a gift as she is a jewellery designer.
*honeymoon will hopefully be paid for as a wedding gift from everyone. We want a weekend in a loch side log cabin,£300.

I can understand what you mean about changing your mind.

We have chosen the most amazing building for wedding and reception but we had to use their caterer(sp??) which we thought ok its expensive but we can change the menu to meet our needs for less.

Now working it out its going to cost around £2k:eek: just for food for 100 ppl and thats only a buffet with sandwiches etc. With the wedding being in Dec we really wanted something like hot meat carvary, soup, hotpot in a buffet style but that is going to cost way more then we can afford. So i keep thinking should we sacrafice the building to find somewhere where we can do the food at a fraction of the cost.

Then theres the videographer when we started planning i thought this was a brillient idea. found a company which was £1200 for entire day(ie bride getting dressed through till midnight) so have booked and paid £100 deposit but now im thinking i am having photos done do i really need a video of the day i know it would be nice but £1200 is a lot of my budget and could be spent on better things.

I dont know if i should cancel videographer and hope we can get £100 back or leave it as it would be nice. AHHH i just dont know:confused:

There is also the fun casino its cheap but i keep thinking we dont NEED it to have a good day but it would be nice. lots of our guests are young adults so we thought this would be a good idea and quite fun but its £500 that could also be saved.

Sorry for such a long post but just cannot work out what is best.

Snap kimberley111, another 23rd May bride here! Things we've done:

    - Booked venues
    - Booked celebrant
    - Organising quotes for catering, need to chase them up actually
    - Booked photographer
    - Got quote from florist which will probably go with
    - Fell in love with a dress in Coast but went off it when I tried it on and it wasn't very flattering
    - Had masses of discussions on what the invites should look like, still got many months to change our minds
    - Started making honeymoon plans, touring round Scandinavia by rail
    - Bought a white sheet in the Ikea bargain area to make bunting
    - Started knitting a wrap for me, pretty complex lace so taking my time!

Great to read about other peoples plans.
Got married 23rd May 2009, many thanks to all on the Weddings and Anniversaries board for their help and support!

    Hi,

I've just booked my MS wedding for 24th January 2009....reading everyone elses I'm really behind

So far i've only provisionally booked venue and registrars, and chosen wedding party and written guest list....oh and made a weddingpath website.

Going to buy dress off ebay, make my own centerpieces and stationary and do the photo albulms on fotobox. We dont need cars as we're having the ceremony and reception in the same place. Not doing favours. FIL doing flowers.

Unfortutanely at the moment theres no money in the wedding fund ...I have to get a job ASAP and all my wages will go towards it - only 6 months to save !!! Maybe I should spend less time wedding planning on ebay and more job hunting!!
  • I am getting married on 11th July.

So far we have booked the church and provisionally booked the reception.

Have everything else organised in my head and on excel spreadsheets (I am excel lover!)
