Courier left parcel in the bin!!!

I wonder if this happens anywhere else,or is it just my area.Postmen and couriers all take advantage of the recycling bins and leave parcels in the blue paper recycling bin.Annoying enough because I leave the storm door unlocked and they could easily leave anything in the front porch instead.More annoying when the bin bin is totally empty and I have trouble retrieving the parcel way down at the bottom.
This morning however I got home from school drop off to find a card, sorry we missed you-parcel in blue bin, well okay but today is blue bin collection day and guess what? The blue bin was empty!
I havn't even phoned NEXT yet to tell them.Does anyone know where I stand on this, will I still have to pay for the item?It was only £15 but not the point,it could have been worth hundreds and it would still have been put in the bin.
I could also be fined by the council for there being a non paper product in the recycling bin.

Not your fault, so I don't see why you can't claim it back..

Pretty crap tho.. Maybe you could put a sign in your window or on the bin stating not to leave anything in there?

  • I phoned NEXT and they were really good about it.The stuff I ordered is now sold out as it was sale stuff so no replacements for me but full credit incl postage. They checked my delivery details and phoned the couriers with instructions for my future deliveries,i.e dont put it in the bin.
I will put a notice inside the lid of the blue bin too for posties and couriers, thanks for that super idea!

Aww, shame you missed out on the sale items! But glad they sorted it out for you.. :)

I've seen a few posts on here saying the same as you, about couriers and bin etc.. Silly delivery people..

Someone posted yesterday I think the courier has left their parcel in the recycling box and it was half full of water!!

So it seems like a National training programme in common sense deliveries is needed.

Surely its a case of using common sense, if theres no one in at the address then leave parcel with a neighbour or take it back to warehouse and leave a card saying whether its been left with a neighbour or its at the warehouse

Next are pretty good at refunding delivery and item costs.

I used to have a Next account but closed it recently, the courier used to always leve stuff half hanging out of the letter box or in the bin, once it was on my shed roof where he had flung it over the back fence. Always got a refund on delivery and some free clothes, when items were damaged.

My gripe at the moment is home delivery network, who don't leave cards when attempting delivery so I end up phoning the retailer and they tell me delivery has been attempted!!

Liitlewoods once left a parcel in the front garden outside my office - under a bush! A neighbour took it in, and I'm pretty sure he was planning to keep it until I went round there and asked if he had seen a parcel.
