I've got a 300g carton of natural cottage cheese. My OH isn't that keen on it. Are there any nice recipes I can hide it in (without having to buy a lot of other ingredients?:wave:0

Hi noonesperfect,
I hate the stuff so can't help but there's an earlier thread with some ideas so I've added your thread to it.

Thanks Pink
I only bought it for my OH who had to have a hospital test recently which meant only certain things could be eaten for a day or two before-hand. Anyway, it didn't appeal so the tub is still in the fridge. Cheesecake is looking favourite!
I don't mind it with fruit (such as a nice crunchy apple) but it's not very filling.:wave:0 -

If you blend/liquidize it you get a nice smooth consistency that you can use for the base (needs flavouring with ... whatever you've got) of a nice pasta sauce. My eyes! The goggles do nothing!0

My aunty - who had a farm with a milking cow called Cuddy - made the best cottage cheese in the world.0

Try this. Very filling and, without the milk and butter some makes of pasta in sauce suggest, slimming "sin free" or whatever. InStore/Poundstretcher do packets of Batchelor pasta in sauce for just 50p.
PASTA & COTTAGE CHEESE FLAN
Makes about 0.75L
INGREDIENTS
1 packet of pasta in sauce
1 egg
200g tub of cottage cheese
Ground pepper to taste
METHOD
Make up the pasta in sauce, according to the instructions on the packet but replacing any milk with an equal quantity of water and omitting any butter.
Break the eggs into a bowl and pick out any bits of shell. Mix up the eggs. Add the cottage cheese. Mix up again. Season with the pepper.
Put the pasta and sauce into a flat ovenproof dish. Level off the surface. Leave to cool until the sauce has thickened. Put the egg and cottage cheese mixture on top. Spread to cover the pasta.
Cook in a preheated oven at 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4 for 20 to 30 minutes until golden on top.
ADDITIONS & ALTERNATIVES
Put a sliced tomato on top. Use ‘quark’ instead of the cottage cheese. The acquisition of wealth is no longer the driving force in my life.0 -
Mix with a pack of smoked mackerel, a squirt of lemon juice and some black pepper - it makes a fantastic mackerel pate! Just make sure you mix it well with the back of a spoon to make sure the pate is smooth.0

In the end I made a Yorkshire curd tart - first time and it was successful!:wave:0
