Just tried this as well. I got an email from goofbay so I thought this must be targeted marketing. Tried it with a purchase and even though it applies the code and does the reduction in ebay, when I log in to paypal to confirm payment, it says the voucher is rejected.
Have sent a email to goofbayI have learnt that living life to the fullest gives you a much better high than alcohol or drugs !0 -
Having read this thread and the one on the Goofbay Forum I think it's now pretty clear that these codes won't work for you if the email came to you from Goofbay. They will only work if the email was from Ebay/Paypal.
I think that Goofbay are the guilty ones here for sending ambiguous emails - everyone signed up to Goofbay would have received the email and most (me included) think they have been 'directly targeted' with the vouchers.
Luckily I haven't used the codes but it seems many have on the strength of the Goofbay email and are now £5 out of pocket.
Goofbay even have a banner ad on their homepage with the codes on! Very very misleading.0 -
I just found one in my message box - £15 off no minimum spend. It's about to expire so I bought something I wouldn't have wanted to pay full price for. I checked the T&Cs before bidding but now Paypal is not honouring it.
Never heard of goofball - this is my code direct from ebay.
Never again.0 -

Yes - I read the T&Cs and just naturally assumed I was a targeted ebay member - nothing on there to make me think otherwise. I think this email is very misleading which is why I would send it to advertising standards if there was any point. :rolleyes:0 -

Did anyone click the link in the Goofbay email? I noticed it was affiliated to eBay, so whether you try to use the voucher or not, for the next 30 days, Goofbay will take a share of any purchases you make.
Very clever revenue technique, but maybe not the best PR move!!<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0 -

I TOTALLY agree !! And its STILL there !:hello:0 -
I had the same problem. I was emailed by goofbay, but although the code worked at 'ebay' stage, it was rejected at Paypal.
The ironic thing is that I used hubbies paypal account, as a test, as he had actually had the same code, but via ebay. And it worked? So much for linked accounts?

Your OH probably got an email with the same code on it, if he hasn't seen it, it'll be lurking in the spam folder somewhere.
The code from goofbay works in the same way that the previous codes have, i.e. if you get an email from ebay, it'll work, if you don't then it won't."Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

i am really disappointed with goof bay as they have messed up a pay pal transaction like yourselves above as it was rejected constantly even though i was emailed the code to my email address from goof bay and the same codes are on its homepage banner aswell, very very misleading aswell!
i ended up having to pay the full amount as usual goof bay have not replied to my email i sent out asking why my voucher code wont go through!
it really had made me think twice about their techniques in tricking customers from eBay thinking they getting a discount when everyone's codes is being rejected.
i used to like that goofbay website and NOW it making me think twice about this "con"
:money: Martin...where are u, we need you to kick goofbays backside!:money::j HEATHER :¬) :T

hello
i just registered with the forum to say the goofbay £5 con stung me as well.
on the goofbay forums the topic discussing this issue is now locked. how dare they stop people from expressing their anger on the site itself?
it seems shocking to me. you can't find out the token doesn't work until you've won something, by which time it is too late to back out of the deal.
it's only five pounds, but its an outright trick!
grrrrr0
