I got those codes too from goofbay. The discount is applied in ebay but when I go into paypal and log in it says the discount cannot be used with my paypal account. Its the same email address on both accounts, any ideas how I can get the discount to register?

I also tried the codes Goofbay sent me with no joy. I've checked my registered email address is the same in PayPal and ebay. I'm wondering if there could be a time delay in our addresses becoming eligible for the discount? Any other ideas?

I received an email from eBay a few months ago saying that they noticed I hadn't been around for awhile (I spent three months in the US), and giving me £7 off anything. Then a few weeks ago I received another one giving me £10 off. Neither had a minimum spend, which was nice!

I've also just tried the Goofbay codes with no luck. Bit annoyed as I might not have bought the item if I hadnt thought I was getting £5 off. Anyone had any luck with CDV1 or CHV2 ?

i have just had an email from goofbay saying £5 off your next spend of £10 or more.

    expiry date 09/06/08 voucher code 1 - CDV1, voucher code 2 CHV2

i have already used the CHV2 code as i had it in a message from ebay, wonder if i can use the CDV1 one aswell?

even though i was emailed the above codes by goofbay i have only been able to use the CHV2 code. my ebay and paypal email addresses are the same, and the same email address that i got the voucher sent to but it says CDV1 is not valid with this paypal email address :(

It may be worth posting in this forum too, goofbay admins seem to read it.
  • Hi - this hasn't worked for me either and I'm a bit hacked off because I spent more than I would have otherwise. I looked at the Goofbay forums and although the admin has read the thread on it they have been of no use at all and have just repeated the T&Cs. I think a lot of people have been stung on this as I have found searchinhg on here, on the goofbay thread and on the ebay community pages. I thought about forwarding the email to advertising standards, but I doubt they are even based in the UK.

I'm having the same problem - direct email from goofbay with coupon, just purchased something for more than I usually would (stocked up on mailing bags) and the codes won't work

A couple of the terms and conditions that you may be interested in (in the event you were not sent the codes direct from ebay/paypal) : ;)
    1. This offer is open to targeted eBay.co.uk registered users who are UK residents 18 years of age or older.
    ...
    11. The voucher has no cash value, cannot be transferred and cannot be forwarded.
    ...
    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/vouchers/cdv1/#terms
    http://pages.ebay.co.uk/vouchers/chv2/#terms

Or put another way, as eBay did when they sent me the voucher:
This offer is intended for the recipient of this email with the eBay User ID which is attached to this email address. This voucher can only be redeemed against purchases made on eBay.co.uk with that eBay user ID. This voucher is only valid when your email address matches the email address of your eBay account...uk_template_busn_spacer.gif
This voucher cannot be transferred or resold in any way.
