    Thanks guys

hopefully it will work, although yesterday was a bit of a washout as I had a bit of a migraine, so went through the whole not hungry and then I was really hungry! And eat everything in sight

So I will be better today.

But it is nice to know that foods I couldn't have together on SW with out worrying if I have enough choices left, I can now, so long as I have the calories left.

I will let you know howI get on.

I am really not sure what to do. Here is my problem. I am over weight, single and about to turn 26 (on Monday ) and I am desperately unhappy about this.

So I can take control and lose the weight, which will give me the confidence to 'get out there' (as my mother puts it :rotfl:) Easier said than done!! So what do I do

So far I can come up with 3 options:

Option 1 - Keep going with Slimming World, but at home and allow myself treats every now and then (i.e the weight watcher quiche I have just discovered! 15.5 syns  ) and see what happens

Option 2 - I stick to a calorie controlled diet, allowing myself about 1800 calories a day which can be increased through exercise and have a little of all the things I like and means I should lose about 1lb a week

Option 3 - Get over it and accept myself the way I am.

With ever I choose I need to do more exercise... any would be good  which will tone me up and hopefully things wont wobble so much :o

Re Dr's - I spoke to my Dr about weight loss and he said that the 'easiest' way was to reduce your calories and increase exercise.... easy yeah right!! Or he mentioned some tablets which stop your body absorbing fat (think free mars bars all the yumminess and none of the bad stuff!) but I don't think this would deal with the under lying issue of why I eat.

Which as a matter of fact is generally because I am bored, stressed or unhappy. And then when I eat I become more stressed and unhappy as I feel guilty (yes shoot me now :rotfl:)

So any suggestions? I feel much calmer now and having had a read of Chips Diary I think I need to have a bit of a life re think to. I need to get a handle on everything and start living my life rather than just exisiting!

I am also trying a detox for a few days, as little artifical sugar as I can manage. I need to get myself off the stuff as I swear I am addicted to it

    HI Lucy

I would say exercise. Its good for you and it can make you feel so much better about yourself, not only because you will be healthier and feel like you are doing something good but it releases feel good hormone things as well.

Exercise also gives you more energy making you feel generally better.

I eat when i am down as well, and completly pig out on certain days, but i just take the next day as a new day and start again.

Also, try not to weigh yourself. I find this really demotivates me. Especially if you are going to exercise as you may not necessarily loose a lot of weight, but you could loose inches.

26 and single is nothing to feel bad about. I am 25 this year and I am embracing the time as "me time" where i can do what i want, when i want without having to worry about someone else.

I would say dont stop yourself from having foods you like, just limit when you have them. That way you wont feel like you are missing out.

Funnily enough someone else has pretty much just said the same thing to me.

That I need to love myself enough to feed myself nice healthy food and excerise more.

This is going to be difficult, but I do need to stop making myself feel so bad over it all.

So I guess if I can do this:

Eat foods I like, but go for healthier options and normal size portions. Exercise more, starting going back to my Salsa class as I am meeting people and getting a good level of exercise while having fun. Keep up badminton with work and maybe get myself a new swimming kit and going swimming once a week.... once I can build the confidence to go!

Well you know what I think!

But I think I should add some things Lucy missed out from her orignal post- she is gorgeous, funny and a lovely person inside and out. When you love yourself as much as you should you will feel so much better and I think your weight problems will go away.

You just need some confidence and to get out there and meet new people- men and women and a boyfriend would come along before you know it.

  • Option 2 def sounds like the best one. Drastic weight loss is all very well and good but generally it doesnt stay off, if you are losing 1-2lbs a week then it is more likely to.

Im 26 aswell and have mates who are older and still single. Just cause you havent found the right person YET doesnt mean anything! They might be round the corner!

I know I guess I have just got into a cycle of thinking negatively.

As I don't like or feel confident about the way I look I can't work out how someone else could. Does that make sense?

I think that the heathly eating will be easier to maintain as well. Lots of cooking from scratch and things like that. Back to basics.

    Hi Lucy,

I think that aiming for a healthier lifestyle - rather than focussing on losing weight so much - is the best way to go. Exercise will definitely make you feel better all round, mentally as well as physically.

I only 'know' you from your posts on here and from a little photo on Facebook but you have loads to offer as a person and a lovely smily face :) Aim to do things that make you happy and all the other bits will eventually fall into place x
