    Woooo Hoooo!

Weigh in last night and another £1 adding to my fund :j I've even added it to my sig. Although it is looking a little sad at the moment! I've also added £100 towards some holiday clothing so I need about £1100 in total. But I am going to make it!

I was chatting to a friend last night who owns a house in Florida and uses a special company to book flight for the people who rent it off them. Apparently they normally get cheap flight so she said to let her know when I want to go and she'll get them to have a look for me :D I love having friends in the know

Anyway it's friday and nearly the weekend!! And Mum is taking me shopping for my birthday tomorrow, and I have somehow agreed to go and play badminton on Monday evening  I can't even play  :o

    Hey!

Not much saving or money making do this weekend, although Mum took me shopping for my birthday :j told me I had a budget of £60 to spend :D and guess what.... I couldn't spend any of it   So we are going to have another look next weekend.

Although one very scary thing did happen... I nearly passed out in M and S!!! I came over all hot and pale and it felt like my legs were going to go!!! Mum is really worried so I now have a Dr appointment for 11.05... we decided that a 25 yr old should not nearly be passing out in M and S :rotfl: .

Hopefully I will be fit for my first attempt at badminton later

    Morning.

Well played badminton last night and really enjoyed it :T and about 60 mins burns about 400 calories :D so I did exercise yesterday  :j and I can't wait to go again.

Total spend was £4.60 for the court and a drink and packet of crisps :o I was really hungry!

Other than that all was good, a little achy today, but I am guessing that must be a good thing.

    Morning everyone!

Ok body has pretty much recovered from Badminton. Although I am not sure my right bum muscle will ever be the same!! :rotfl:

But I have been feeling really down in the dumps over the last few days... like a big pile of steaming poo actually :o. But last night I had enough and I have decided I need to look at things differently.

So rather than I have got to pay off over £13,500 worth of debt, I have actually already paid off about £3,000 :T :D. And rather than I have 4 and a half stone to lose (:o), I have already lost 2 stone (:o :o) :j and I should be proud of these achievements.

Mum and I named my fat last night.... so may I introduce... Albert, Fat Albert (:rotfl: :p) and Fat Albert is not going to beat me!!! Neither is the debt (which doesn't have a name)

I don't really have plans in place to deal with these yet, I need to get them, but still working on that one. Well I have a few starters:

    Debt -

    - Have a good tidy up at home (I live in a pigsty!) and then Ebay/Amazon or Carboot everything that isn't screwed down or I haven't used in over a year!
    - Keep spending low and save for America as quickly as possible, so I can stay oping on my loan.

    Fat Albert :D -

    - Stick to the healthy eating plan, it works!
    - Allow myself little treats so I don't get bored!

    Other suggestions would be good.

  • Hi Lucy.

Looking around, I think £400 is a bit rich for flights even!

For instance, doing a quick search for available flights this year, I've got New York for £249. Even in the current high-fuel climate, no reason this isn't achievable. As someone pointed out, Air India are always cheap and tbh they're not a bad airline either. With NY only being 6-7 hours away too, it's not that much longer than going to Tenerife!

When going to the US, I swear by going to NY and then getting an internal flight out. In the US, internal flights can often be picked up for $60 return and of course you get the benefit of great exchange rates.

Washington is really quite close to NY so there may even be a bus/train option too.

See what your friend comes up with then check the flight checker sites! It may take some time, but for instance, we picked up flights to Aus for £550 earlier this year when others we were travelling with couldn't get them for under £700 (Easter weekend)! I reckon we probably spent about 12 hours in total searching, but hey, £300 is a lot of money.

Cool I will have a shop around.

I know that you can also get cheaper flights by going via Amsterdam, but apparently my friend has done that once and said it was terrible! They sometimes visit NY so I will bare that in mind!

  • ooh, just thought of something.....

Air India give away free drinks (like most transatlantic airlines) but a lot of people on the flights are teetotal (Often the flights are Mumbai-Heathrow-NY) so there's always plenty of free pop! Just make sure you don't have to drive either end :D:D:D I remember rolling off one flight :o:o:o
