Just to second the banana cake recipe - yum - I do that a lot too as well as banana muffins because there are always a couple of sorry bananas left on the tree at the end of the week that the kids and OH won't eat 'becasue its got black bits'!:rotfl:
In the Christmas GH they did a similar banana cake recipe and added to the mixture broken pieces of green and blacks chocolate and butterscotch - have done this too and its very, very bad and very, very good
BTW well done Mrs M on 12 NSD's - is that a record?0 -
This might sound really sad, but I also use Excel to store my recipes, a new page for each one with a front index page. I cost some of them out too. It's good to be able to compare waht you are saving.
That's a really good idea. I currently list all mine on word and bookmark the recipe title then have an index on the front page, so I can just click it and go to the recipe, but with excel, like you say, you can cost them out.... mmmm, I can see a conversion happening....LBM April 2013 - £29,000.00Vanquis CC's PAID - Debenhams SC PAID - A+L OD PAID - Asda CC £783.75Barclaycard CC £1400.78 - BoS CC PAID - Freemans Cat PAIDF/D Loan & CC £1458.96 - Santander Loan PAID - Mum Loan PAIDRBS OD PAID - F/D OD £1026.52Weekly Grocery Challenge - £95.00 budget / spend £-0 -

School has been so busy!! Reports, Summer Concerts, Open mornings etc..
Good News: We've been gathering in, 'picking' lots from our garden: beautiful strawberries and raspberries, rocket, lettuce, red currants so far..
Also we've kept to well within budget so far.. and get a new budget on Thurs.
Realised that OB won't beable to get all the time off work he'd need for our CA adventure so we'll looking into doing something else.
Will let you know what...
Haven't been able to keep up with posts, first time since joining in Feb but I do hope all the team are doing well.

Well you would have all been proud this morning. I got up early  and put a lamb casserole on using lamb I dug out of the freezer, chucked in some saved and frozen carrots in along with a multitude of bits from the cupboard and a cass mix I found in the back of the cupboard. I will add peas when I get home at 3.30 and it will be ready to eat when DS has finished cricket at around 8pm. I will report success/failure later.0

Hello!
I have been a bit AWOL this month with work and computer problems but things seem to have settled. I just sat down and added up my spend which I have managed to keep track of and it came to £97.69 since I was last here so £214.67 in total. My budget for the month is £250 so I have £35.33 to last until the 27th June. I think I'll be fine with that - hurray!:D
I hope everyone is well because I don't have a hope of catching up with the posts0 -

Morning all
Well the storm has gone..for now and by some miracle all my veggies have survived in tact :T mind i did run round like a looney making sure everything was tied to something that couldn't take off....
Day 13 of my NSD marathon :rotfl: ....im going to come over all funny when i have to shop again and let my money out of my sweaty little mitt :rotfl:
mumzy -i normal only declare grocery NSDs but this time i can't think of anything else i have spent anything on either  :T
The money I have saved was just going straight into a new savings account i opened especially for it -it was coming along nicely..then meggymoo (the car) decided to play up -so most of it went on getting her sorted.. oh and hubbies new driver for his golf..its his birthday today but he had it last week.. near on €150 for a stick with a lump on the end  but he loves it and at least it will get used...
Thats why im pulling our belts in again as of this month -because i really want to get some savings behind us.....
Long term the hope is that when we finish in the army we can sell the house we have now (not that we have ever lived in it yet-but by the time we have done, by letting it out someone else will have paid most of the mortgage for 8 years:D ).... add the profit from that to hubbies lumps sum pension from the army and by taking out the same size mortgage as we have now...buy a bigger house... well actually its a much bigger garden im afterso we can have a few chickens and a proper veg plot etc...saving even more money in the long run:T ...well thats what we are hoping to do..but we will have to see how things go... so i want to try and save as much as possible and become as frugal as possible.. picking up ideas on here is a god send ..
oooops sorry mumzy..you ask 1 question and get my life story:rotfl:
Well back on topic... hubbies birthday meal is still to be jacket potato with cottage cheese and salad ...nice and easy and i have everything in... he is an easy fella to keep happy :T
I have some bananas to use up  .. i get them so hubby can take a couple to eat on his way around the golf course... but he took them wed-fri but when i asked why we had so many left it turns out that during the competition on sat/sun they were provided with bananas and drinks..so he ate theirs and brought ours back home again :rotfl: ... luckily i don't like bananas until the skins go brown... well they don't taste of much before then.. but there are too many..so i have tracked down a recipe i may have a bash out later
will be back with the recipe if it works:D
I think today im going to finalise the meal plan for next month.... yes -again.. i keep doing it , but now hubby has declared that he is happy with the simple meals.. i may as well go and alter it and save more money/food... so the meal plan may look a little dull and repetative to some when i finish..but i guess if we both enjoy it, it doesn't matter
well enough waffle..i had better get of and get something done..
have a great day everyone-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -

You can make it draw graphs as well......
Yesterday was another NSD so updated signature. As already said have gone over budget this month so hoping not to buy anything until our new month starts on Thursday.
Pizza for tea tonight with McCain BOGOF wedges and salad.
My little lettuce leaves are coming on and the second batch are looking healthy- they seem to like the rain. Tatties and onion leaves also coming on and some red spring onions creeping through too. Big tom plants looking healthy- flowers but no toms yet, will put them outside later.
Ok, hope everyone is coping. I will try to watch this prog on tv (Dispatches) tonight but is there not something else on about Primark, or is this another night ?

Morning All!
Hope you all had fantastic weekends- I had 2 NSD's and am going for my 3rd in a row- nothing compared to MrsMc (I bow to your greatness!) but not a bad way to start the week! :T
DeniseF-- veggie box was a mixed success- will not be ordering the fruit bag again as a separate but will be ordering a veggie box as that was great and enough for me to use during the week without having tons of waste and no lugging around of heavy stuff! Will review what they have this week in what size boxes and order accordinglyAlso it had pak choi in it so I was a bit  but then thought actually its a good thing- out of the veggie rut!! Any ideas for uses welcome- I put it into my green soup yesterday.
Have not much hope of catching up- did I miss any good recipes?- and is there a July thread yet? Will try and read back- and thinking about conversion to an Excel spreadsheet now for recipes too!June Budget= £151.41/£150:cool:10 NSDs (with teenagers !!)= 8Reduced my overdraft a little today- slow but sure!:A0
