Morning everyone, after shopping briefly yesterday, added another £48 onto my total....hopefully i will not need anymore, but i am tempted with some of the offers on at the moment. Just stocked up on pineapple and melons at Aldi, as they are in the 69p offer, Tesco are doing reduced ones as well. Think i might try and freeze some of the pineapples.Blackadder: Am I jumping the gun, Baldrick, or are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?

Hiya Boom, this is all i could find for now but will keep looking unless someone re posts it later
Veggie shepherds pie with sweet potato topping is something I really like.
For the filling:
fry chopped onions, carrots, any other veg you want. Add stock, red wine and lentils and any herbs you like. Simmer til lentils are cooked.
For topping:
mashed sweet potatos mixed with little butter, salt, black pepper. Then grated cheese on top before you put it all in the oven to finish.May GC £350/ spent so far

Hi there boomdocker..is it this one?
I have taken the pics out... it was on weezl's thread
shepherdless pie ie its vegetarian
400g continental lentils
6 carrots diced
2 medium onions chopped
2 sticks celery chopped
1 leek sliced thinly
1 tablespoon tomato puree
3 stock cubes
about 1.5 litres water
tablespoon dried mint
a little cornflour or instant gravy granules
about a kilo mashed potato
its a bung it all in the pan(except the gravy granules /flour) and cook until lentils are soft type of recipe i( use a pressure cooker) then i thicken with the gravy granules/flour
Then strain the lentil mixture reserving the gravy put the lentil mixture into an oven proof dish top with the mash and bake in a hot oven until browned-6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Just added, 2.92 to signature, for milk(needed) and fizzy pop for hubby(not needed) he was very hungover and sprite was all that would help:mad: He offered to make the macaroni cheese for dinner though as i was tired, wish i'd made it my self though as he used a whole 600g block of cheese! !!!!!!!!! Argh, i wonder why i bother sometimes:rolleyes:
Have a Mr T's order coming tomorrow, dont really need it, but i have a voucher to use, so just bought dry store stuff that will last and was on offer. Its amazing how much you save by only buying things on offer:D Wont need to buy washing powder etc again til after new year:rotfl: So may go overbudget this month:oThe trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Morning all
Hubby has tootled off to work for the day -won't be back until the morning so i have no actual cooking to do today... going to stash the other 3 baguettes in the freezer..being left in the house on my own with them is not a good idea
A NSD today.... at least thats 2 in a row...the fridges/freezers/cupboards are still packed so im being strong.... the other thing that helps keep me out of the shops is the weather...its 78 here already at 9:30am  so by the time i got to the supermarket and had to lug the bags back up hill it would be far too hot
Today im going to have a flick through my books/mags for some different things to have a go at baking...and then im going to sit and get lots of x stitching donewell 1 of them is a xmas pressie for my mum
right had better get off..have a good day everyone...
oooh hello and welcome to the newbies
Gunsandbanjos.... my hubby is just the same when making a cheese sandwich.. huge great lumps of the stuff on there  i can't eat it that way..its awful...not to mention the other 2 meals i could probably make out of what he has wedged on there -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.50 -
Technically it was a NSD for me...we didn't go to the market after all so I spent some time clearing space for some more grow bags in the garden. No1 offspring went off in a sulk cuz there wasn't any full fat milk for their cereal, & I haven't actually refunded them for it yet:o
Not looking good today tho cuz me muvva & I are attempting the hour's drive I]each way![/I to MrA. Thankfully it is a larger store so we can have lunch /COLOR]mum's diabetic but also likes to 'treat' us when we go out like this
I'm hoping to get the tinned pulses cuz the Iggie can have those, but I fancy a mixed bean salad myself.....do I just open the tins & help meself like you can with sweetcorn, or do they need to be heated thru first?
I didn't know you could put guiness in cakes IOIWE--recipe priddy perleeze? I keep meaning to have a go at the beer in batter too but remember when it's too late:o Two of the offspring will have the frozen fish that's done in John Smith's Bitter, but you can't see it very often round here....mind you--I haven't got a deep fat fryer or a chip pan, so perhaps there's no point in looking for a recipe
Soz---waffling again----oooh waffles! Does anyone use a waffle iron or whatever? Are they worth investing in? OK OK...I'll leave quiettly ossifer:D
To help redress the fact I'm always asking questions about new-to-us things, I'd like to pass on this tip from my grannies......get yourself a METAL skewer for when you're cooking in the oven. Meat is cooked when juices run clear & cakes are done when the skewer comes out clean....hth.x
