I baked some yesterday but added golden denemara suger (got bags of it in the cupboard!!) made them more chewy and not so brittle DS demolished 6 whilst walking round RSPB Minsmere this morning (one way of keeping him quiet so we can hear the birds:rotfl: ) Unfortunately my other 2 DD have dicovered they taste great straight form the freezer so I am going to have to hide them cleverly or they will magically dissappear with the words 'But I didn't eat them!!!!!!!!!!':rotfl:GC July £250/0 -
Thanks to all for your supportive comments. I am embarrassed now by my rant, think its because I have just been so tired recently. My problems are miniscule at the moment compared to others. I went upstairs after preparing lunch and just felt so overwhelmingly tired that I lay on the bed and went straight to sleep for 2 hours. I must have needed it, (living up to my name) but now even further behind.
Don't feel emparrassed, catnap! It was obviously good for you to get it off your chest, and things usually look better after a good sleep.0 -
Yesterday, I made yoghurt, using the last of the easiyo mix (already made), with a carton of UHT semi milk. I put in the maker like I would usually but it did not thicken. Any ideas what I did wrong?0

I always use demerara for things like this as I find white sugar to sweetI do use white for cakes though.
As it's my first batch I haven't tried freezing yet that will be with the next batch I think. Do I just bag them when they've cooledThanks to the poster who suggested the ice cream scoop although I haven't got one I did remember to keep them all smallish and about the same size so I got 36 out of one batch. These will defo be regulars from now on :rotfl:

Good Evening all
Hope you have all had a good weekend :T
I have had 2 NSD's in a row :j We did go out to dinner today but as it is a very rare thing here i decided not to add it to my GC and have it as a treat instead
I have baked enough shortbread to feed the whole town over the last few days and still i have none left  My brother has now discovered them and whipped a box full from my cupboard  :rotfl:
Still haven't got round to doin me some twinks but hopefully will get time tomorrow once the kids are in school
I have been very lucky and my neighbour has given me her slow cooker as she no longer uses it.....so soups etc here we come :rotfl:
She has also got a breadmaker i can have....i soooo can't wait to get started on some bread, i have got most of the ingredients already
I know i'm goin to need a few cupboard bits tomorrow so i am going to get them from Aldi as i'm sure that will be cheapest for the few bits i need pasta, butter and SR flour

Hi, just like to say you guys are totally inspiring me!!
I've read the whole thread of June, its taken my a LONG time and the ideas and recipes i've picked up are all fab!!
I'm a novice (to say the least) gardener but i'm going to have a go at growing my own carrots and lettuces this week. I have no patience what so ever though, so i shall be sitting watching them grow urging them to grow faster... does talking to them really help do you think hmmmmmm :undecided
I've set a budget for 2 adults and a wee !!!!!cat but i'm hoping to get less than my budget as my cupboards have enough in them to feed an army!!
Please could you add me to the list at £250.
Thanks for everyone posting recipes and tips, i'm convincing the OH that we need an additional freezer and that he will benefit from having more home cooked meals, scouring Ebay as I type...Mortgage amount at 31/12/2011 £166,050 now £0 as at Sept 21 - 15yrs 4 months early.0 -

Hi folks!
I have been lurking on here for a couple of weeks now and have been thoroughly inspired by you all and would like to join in, if I may!
We are embarking on a serious cost cutting and money saving exercise as we have a few debts to pay off and I had our first child seven weeks ago so am on maternity pay (just basic as I was self-employed) until December and then not planning to go back to work so will be living only on DH's wage, which just covers everything but doesn't leave us any extra!
We started our new month on 30 May when DH got paid and I have given myself £250 this month as there were great offers on cat and dog food in MrS so we seriously stocked up!! I'm also going out twice next week so will use some of the money for that if our 'entertainment' budget doesn't cover it. Next month I would like to spend a lot less, although I might still budget the £200 but aim to put whatever I don't spend into savings and therefore keep it away from DH's ebay fund!!
I know this may seem a lot to some people and I know it is compared to what some of you live on but we tend to buy nearly all organic/free-range/fair trade/local, which unfortunately requires a slightly higher budget!
So, could I please be put down for £200 from 30 May-30 June for all groceries/household goods/toiletries/pet food (not including an organic fruit, veg & egg box @ £11.51 per week, which gets taken by d/d) for 2 adults, a dog, 2 cats, a rabbit and a guinea pig!!! Our son is exclusively breast fed and in reusable nappies so no expenditure there!
I have already spent £131.58:eek: so only have £68.42 left for the rest of the month (veg box gets taken by d/d so not included in that) but shouldn't really need to buy anything apart from milk/butter/the odd loaf (although I do make my own too) for the rest of the month as have loads in and today my lovely Mum brought us stuff for tonight's tea as well as two huuuuuuuuuuuuuge pizzas and a cottage pie for the freezer:j .
Right, will stop waffling on now!:o Looking forward to getting stuck in and sharing the challenge with you all!
