If you're on Sky and thinking about cancelling your Setanta, their current sales pitch is this:
You're currently paying £9.99 and with the 30-days notice will have one final payment to make.
If you're looking to resubscribe for the new football season (starts Aug 16th [Aug 10th if you include the Community Shield which they now have]) you have a connection fee of at least £14.99 (on matchdays this is likely to be £19.99) and your first payment of £12.99 (the price of subscription went up from June 1st for new customers, and July 1st for existing customers).
So, to cancel and resubscribe you'll have to pay £37.97.
One of their retentions offers is 6 months at £7.50 - the one they hit you with first.
It makes sense to take this. Your first payment of £7.50 is in June taking you through to December saving you the £15 connection fee and for the sake of argument £5.50 a month for 6 months, which is another £33, you'd then go on to £12.99 from January 09.
Total saving to you: £48 and you still get to see whatever it is they have on over the summer and no further phone call to resubscribe at their busiest time of the year.
My recommendation: call Setanta on 0191 5013601 and ask for 6 months at £7.500 -

Worked the very best, I like the magners League rugby....so £7.50 p/month for the next 6 months seems like a good deal to me...as above post recommendsI'm now a retired teacher... hooray ...:j
Those who can do, those who can't, come to me for lessons:cool:0 -
Just phoned sky to cancel sports and movies. Wasnt offered any deals, as he said they didnt have any more to offer on the packages, but he did say he had a deal on my multiroom box, which was half price for 6months. That will do me...0

if you wanted to cancel the sports & sky let you without offering you a better deal would they charge you for having sky+. I heard that you had to have at least to premium channels if you wanted sky+ for free, ie; sky sports 1 & 2.0
