So what if temps., rise a few degrees!

If I said a global drop of 4 degrees could well induce an ice age, would that put into perspective what an increase of 4 degrees could do? The increase in temps, creates more precipitation, leading to flooding. It melts ice caps which increase sea levels and wipe out low lying islands and land masses. Nightmare!

Edit: Oh yes.. in reference to the post above, completely forgot this was on the house price board, I do apologise for lack of relevance

I've been out of it for a few years now, but remember reading some well-informed research which said that global warming = melting ice-caps = altered gulf stream = much colder temperatures for Britain, more like Scandinavia/Russia.

    Sure feels like it today.

This oil bubble is bad news short term, but at least it's gives us a fighting chance at having real solutions for 10-20 years or whenever oil really is running short.

Investing in research and alternatives is obviously more viable the more expensive oil gets.

    Hi Tozer,

I began by saying that the oil crisis could be worse than the HPC! and we are discussing solar panels - they may effect your HP;) (But mostly this board is full of interesting people with very interesting views IMHO so it's a good place for a discussion. :D) I agree global warming matters alot IMHO.

I think this did happen in the 70's didn't it? You see houses with hardly any windows and apparenty they were built in the 70's. Trouble was once the spike was over, everyone sort of forgot about it and went back to normal.

Absolutely. I think it demonstrates how an interesting discussion can move forward and cover different topics. I'm all for it!!!

Just has a quick look at the wacko the end is nigh site and it makes.. interesting reading.

"Well, I am no expert in this, but it appears to me that the basement is surrounded on all sides by concrete, except for the two small windows I mentioned. The steel door would help block off the only way in.

The top of the basement is made out of wood though. I could probably take some sort of saw or sledgehammer and go to town on my living room floor, and put a hole in the ceiling of the basement. Our best bet would be to hope no one relizes we have a basement hiding behind that bookshelf.

As far as gun and ammos is concerned, we have about 500-700 rounds for each of our handguns. we each have a 40 cal glock [22, 23] they can use same clips. And hubby also has a back up. I ''think'' its a ''9'' ???? Sorry, I am no gun expert, but I can shoot them all, and have pretty good aim on still targets. Other then hunting when I was younger, not much experiance on moving targets though. Hubby is a police officer, and does have some skills when it comes to that.
We have a 12 gauge pump, and probably about 150 rounds for that, we have a little 22 with maybe 50 rounds, and hubby has some sort of machine gun type thing I have never fired. Looks like what the military uses.
I have a little 38 special , but we have no extra ammo for that yet. And if shtf, I don't think I would want a revolver anyway.... but hey, at least they don't jam.

The problem with the guns would be if we were in the basement, we would not have a view of what was going on outside, and we would not be able to get a shot off untill they breached the basement."!

lol. So just the 4 handguns, a shotgun and a backup machine gun then. And there was me thinking a few grugerands would suffice. :)
