    Hi RM,

Wow, this thread is hot today. Thanks for the info.

I’ve read horror stories on this site concerning certain internet only mobile phone sellers and ideally would prefer to deal with companies that also have retail outlets.

Last year the CPW deal appeared on their website in early December so I think I will keep the situation under review for the time being.

I need 4/5 mobiles for the coming year , do you know if there are extra discount/incentives to be had for bulk purchases.
;)Do It To Them Before They Do It To You ;)
  • Once you buy from OSPS they have a refer a friend scheme (£20 argos vouchers for each phone sold to your recommended friend).

So you could get a partner to have the phones - or a variation of that for some more discount.

Also the cashback sites may deal with them (eg. rpoints are giving £9 worth of cashback for each OSPS phone bought between now and 31/12/04).

This is getting better and better!!

    What about mobilesuk.com and mobileshop.com
    - do they have a refer-a-friend thing, or rpoints?

I'm looking now at Orange - 3510i for hubby (£3.50/mth) from mobilesuk or £4.99 from OSPS, and something a bit more gadgety for me (mobileshop nokia6230 £15 or mobilesuk £13.75)

any suggestions for pairing up and buying from same place to maximise referrals etc?

Are you wanting these for a business?...or is it just a large family?

As Smartasss says, many of the cashback retailers offer refer a friend schemes - it might be worth talking to them to see if they can effectively award you N-1 (or, if you're lucky and cheeky enough to push for it, N) discounts upfront for a simultaneous purchase of N phones instead of making you go through the refer a friend route, one phone at a time.

Just my gut instinct on this one...

surely talkworldonline's deal where you effectively get a free 3510i, with free line rental (afer cashback) on the OVP100/200 plans would be the better one to go for?

    Am I missing something?

Yes - unfortunately you are missing something.

The FREE aspect of the deal assumes that you trade down to YP30 @ £15/month after 6 months.

That said, if you purchase it on OVP Anytime 100 and stick with that tariff for the entirety of the minimum term, it comes out at only £42 anyway, which is a good deal if 100 XNET anytime is suitable for your needs.

I'm not really a believer in stating costs based on an assumption that the customer has to change the tariff part way through the deal as

    (a) it complicates the issue for the customer - it's not an automatic switch, it has to be requested and there's no guarantee that the stated tariff will still exist in 6 months time anyway

    (b) it kind of assumes that the required trade-down is appropriate for the customer's needs.

It would be far simpler for customers to understand and far more honest if they just quoted the price based on the chosen tariff at the start of the contract and be done with it. However, this kind of advertising is becoming more and more commonplace now.

One offer that people seem to have missed...(I'd call OSPS to confirm, as it seems too good to be true!)

    Your Plan 120
(includes 120 extra evening minutes + 1000 evening texts for use in the first 6 months)
    @ £25 per month.

Samsung E800 (Modern slide VGA camera phone)
    - free with 12 months half price line rental.

This deal effectively means that you get a free phone that will probably sell for about £180 on Ebay, line rental that only costs £150 for a year, with effectively 240 cross network minutes per month. (In addition to this the texts offer means that you'll get what equates to 166 text messages per month to use between 8pm and midnight each evening)

I'm tempted to get this one myself, but can't even use all the minutes I have at the moment - so don't really need anymore! ;D

http://!!!!!!.com/6wkjd - try this. Click on 'Free Gift' to see the 12 months half price offer. If you know an existing OSPS customer you can get an extra £20 in argos vouchers through their Recommend a Friend scheme.
