Update (10/11/2004): This list has now been expanded upon to take into account the OSPS deals the joe3uk has pointed out and other cheap Orange contract options, mostly on Orange OVP tariffs. Have a look at my post on the referrers board for more details and a link to the full list on my site.
Hi guys,
I don't see this reported anywhere else on these boards so, here goes...
All the following handsets are currently available on Orange OVP Vodafone Anytime 200 with 12 months 1/2 price line rental from Mobileshop (a very well known and long standing web retailer among the users of uk.telecom.mobile). That's a total cost of only £180 over the minimum term of the contract (12 months).
It says on their site that the first 3 months will be charged at 1/2 price on the bill and the remainder is to be claimed back in two parts after 5 months and 9 months.
(all the following are NON-affiliate links to the relevant product page on Mobileshop's website)

]Nokia 6230[/url]
Sony Ericsson K700i
Nokia 6600
Motorola V600 + bluetooth headset
SPV C500
For the record, as far as I can ascertain, NONE of the above handsets has been available with 1/2 price line rental for the entirety of the contract before (you are free to cancel after 12 months). e.g. the best deal available on the Nokia 6230 last month was with 10 months 1/2 price line rental.

For those who aren't particularly bothered about the handset, the following are also available from OneStopPhoneShop (same tariff)....
Nokia 3220 - An extra £45 cashback
Nokia 6610i - An extra £45 cashback
Siemens cx65 - An extra £35 cashback
Samsung E330/E300 - An extra £15 cashback
Sony-Ericsson k500 - An extra £25 cashback
Nokia 3510i - An extra £115 cashback
Motorola v220 - 12 months at £11.99 not £15
These handsets are all of a more budget standard than those mentionned in the OP but all with the exception of the 3510i still contain a camera. Don't forget that you can get an additional £20 (high street vouchers I believe) by using the OSPS RAF scheme.0 -

Nice one, jo3uk!
I'll remove the E300 from my list above as it's no longer the cheapest.
cheers,

i dont quite follow as i cant find it on the osps website......are you saying you can get a nokia 3510i on orange ovp200 with 1/2 price rental and £115 cashback?0 -
The actual deal is 3 months half price with £240 cashback... If you work out the cost of 9 months being half price as £135, therefore effectively it is 12 months half price and £115 back.

I hate to rain on your parade, jo3uk, but 240-135 = 105

Thanks Reestit, got the 6600 on OVP Anytime 200 for my Uncle. That's a great deal considering the going rate for these on eBay.0

Oh, no... these deals are so good... now I'm torn between getting a flash Sony Ericsson K700/Nokia 6230 for £15/month on Orange or a BT Sony Ericsson 610 for £4.99 then £9.99/month...
Please someone, help a very indecisive person make a choice.... ???

I think the sun's back out.
The OSPS deal is better than you say!
They give you £240 cashback with the 3510i on the Orange OVP Vodafone Anytime 200 as well as 3 months at half price.
So 3 months at half price is 3 x £15 plus 9 x £30 less £240 makes a total of £75 to pay for the full year.
(You could make a profit on the deal if you changed tariff after 6 months to the Orange OVP T-Mob 750 mins off peak + 50 texts at £14 a month - this would cost a total of £219 for the year, so with the £240 cashback you'd get a profit of £21!!)0 -
Smartasss
what's OVP? How can Orange be Vodafone? ???
