Auction pic to me looks a lot brighter blue, like I said I appreciate cameras dont get the colours exact but surely you would keep going til you get an accurate pic.
Meant this for the auction I bid on, not the new one you have found.
Auction pic looks nothing like blue to me at all
What I'm trying to say is, depending on the camera, the light, the flash, the monitor/screen you are viewing it on etc, colours can look completely different to what they actually are. Maybe the seller can see one thing on her screen, while you and me and others can see something different.
The pic on the auction and the pic you have taken don't seem to differ much at all. I can't see any check pattern on the pic you have taken, but I can see a slight beigey tinge, even though I'd still say it looked grey, but definitely not blue.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Im not sure that you can get an accurate pic of this as the check is just so small. They could have made a bit more effort to list the colour though in the description bit.True MSE'r -Money Spending Expert0

Most modern digital cameras have an automatic white balance. (as well as exposure). They have a look at the colour temperature and have a guess at what white should be.This is complicated by the light source e.g. daylight, fluourescent, tungsten filament, halogen etc etc.
As for your pictures I think they are close enough to be the same colours and look grey/black to me. Your picture has a slight brown/pink tinge but mostly grey/black.
As per post above, since colour was not part of the sale I think you're on a looser.
As for the other item problems of colour I would blame the camera and user.0 -
The pic on the auction looks black and grey to me.
The pic above looks black and grey/browny to me, so it could well be the one the seller had for sale.
Having seen the photo of the actual item now, I would have to agree.
It could be just a very poor photo on ebay.
If I was the seller, I would offer a full refund if the buyer wanted to return it at their expense (but them I'm nice like that!), but I suspect if it went to paypal, they would find it was not 'significantly not as described'. It probably wouldn't be worth pursuing in court either. (I assume the belt pads were supplied, else it would be SNAD)
So, the options are either to puruade the seller to take the item back (perhaps they could offer it as a SCO for a pound less) else, try to re-sell it on ebay."Now to trolling as a concept. .... I think if taking a picture of the car seat cover as a whole it wouldn't pick up the check but they could have put a seperate piccy of the fabric close up but then thats all down to extra cost of listing I suppose.True MSE'r -Money Spending Expert0

I don't think Paypal could agree with it being not as described, because no colour was mentioned on the description.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0

I bought it under the impression it was blue so would i be within my rights to ask to return it for a refund?
Many thanks.
I agree with all the comments about digital cameras, photos white balance etc can be very hard to get right
The problem is if you are unsure then you should ask (esp if colour is important) before auctiom ends.
On saying al that it looksd blue/grey to me.

The seller has said she will happily refund the cost of the item, the postage was only £2 so assume it wont be much more to return it so im quite happy to take the hit of sending it back.

Does the difference in colour matter that much to you? If it is in good condition, and a fair price, I think I would just accept it. Your picture and the one in the original listing dont seem that dissimilar from where I am, so I think it is a bit rough to make the seller take it back, when she will have incurred costs in selling etc.
And make a note to yourself to check any details in the future that arent clearly listed.“All you need is love. But a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt.” Charles M Schulz0
