Spaghetti carbonara? You just need some eggs, bacon, spaghetti, bit of cheese and some cream and loads of pepper. Really tasty (not so great if you are on a diet tough!).

That rules me out then

I have a tasty lunch time snack though, what my brother made up himself, it was delicious, when i have time i'll write it on here...

    P-P

loved your sample menu. I thought that it really illustrated what you can do on a budget.

I thought the prices were realistic - even for Tescos (Which is what I use for staples) and my local veg shop.

The only thing I would spend more on (as there was £2 left over ;) ) would be the sausages. It's definately worth a trip to the butchers or just the next level up in the supermarket, if you can afford it.

Anyway - this is a great post for students to have a look at.

Thans again P-P, i find you really inspiring.

  • Thank you everyone for all your ideas!! :A

I've finally decided that we're going to have chicken breast with a red wine sauce, jacket potatoes and salad - oh and a bottle of wine for me!! Yum!
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

How about dicing your chiken breasts and browning them in a pan then putting them in a casserole dish with veg and a cream of chicken soup and topping with mash if you have potatoes and baking shepherds pie style?

Or Glad, be kind to yourself, you are poorley after all... give the family an ultimatum.... you cook or we all have beans on toast. Very quick, easy, cheap and nutritious so no guilt trip to follow!
  • Make a lovely chicken casserole with Veg, you could even add a bit of pasta to bulk it up.

A casserole always makes me feel tons better when I am ill. It is easy to make too. Chuck it all in a pot and cook it on gas mark 5 for a couple of hours - yummy

    Hope you feel better soon

Sorry to hear you aren't feeling good Glad. If I was feeling bad I'd pass it over to Mr P who would more than likely do beans on toast or go for a takeaway. It's surprising how they can survive when they need to. I hope you feel better soon. :)
