            Hi,
Thanks for your feedback.
My dress was less than half price, should have been £625.
I have 3 bridesmaids too, how did you get yours so cheap? Mine cost £600 but bridesmaids are paying half.
I know I shouldn't have spent so much on the shoes, they are nike shiny things.
I did make my own invitations but the cost of ivory card is quite alot and I bought posh wallpaper as the feature paper. (kept getting samples but was getting a bit embarrassing! :rotfl:
I don't think there is too much I can do to cut this back anymore....might have to search the house and start car booting/ebaying.
I know the photographer is a huge part of the expense but we're not having a dvd and I think the photographs are really important- he does do cheaper packages will have another look.
Thanks again [0 -
I think you did ok on shoes - mine were £80.
Maybe the photographer could be looked at - mine is £360 for copyright free dvd
possibly the evening buffet but that depends how many people you are having.
Bridesmaids - not too bad mine are £240 for three dresses
You seem to have a lot there for hair makeup and accessories - my bridesmaids tiaras were 99p each from ebay
and you could look at the gifts but it depends what you want to get them.
Saying that I've just looked at my budget and I'm only £200 under you but we are putting £750 behind the bar and our venue for the ceremony is costing £850  so from where I'm sitting it doesn't look too bad
Officially a non-smoker but still rounder than recommended

Some of MSS comments weren't that helpfull lol. The wedding dress was a good price... What style is your dress? I have a tiara I bought off eBay that I'm not going to use, it's silver with pearl (effect) on it, I'll try and see if the pic is online still... Anyway, you're welcome to it if you would use it... Have you tried looking online for your accesories? I bout some sample things for my bridesmaids from https://www.yoneed.com, it's in hong kong, really cheap jewellery but not bad stuff at all for the price. You can pay by paypal and they do have an ebay shop but its cheaper off the website...
Is there any way you can get the flowers down? e.g I'm having spider chrysanths in my boughet and because they're cheap it bought the price down from £95 to £40! Plus I'm having them for the button holes so they're 70p each instead of 95p... And we're not decorating the church either so no cost there... Bouquets for the mom's... MIL is getting nothing lol... and we're probably going to get a potted plant, rose bush or similar for my mom... Hopefully cheaper and easier to get to the hotel...
Is there anyway you could reduce the food bill, ie, serve the wedding cake instead of desert or cater for less in the evening? We're inviting about 140 people to the evening but working on the basis that not everyone will come, not everyone that does come will eat... We're catering for 80 + a chocolate fountain.
And don't get the favour bags... just tie with ribbon

Maybe the photographer could be looked at - mine is £360 for copyright free dvd Will have another look, he does a package for £600 but the £1000 includes a studio set up to take portraits of the guests. Sister in law and family live in America so thought it would be nice to get pictures of everyone.
possibly the evening buffet but that depends how many people you are having. Will reconsider this too as haven't set the price yet.
Bridesmaids - not too bad mine are £240 for three dresses Too late to do anything now
You seem to have a lot there for hair makeup and accessories - my bridesmaids tiaras were 99p each from ebay My sister says I can have her jewellery from wedding will look at bridesmaids stuff thanks.
and you could look at the gifts but it depends what you want to get them.Any ideas? Not got a clue:o
Saying that I've just looked at my budget and I'm only £200 under you but we are putting £750 Gosh that's very generous the reception venue asked if it would be a free bar, we quickly said no! behind the bar and our venue for the ceremony is costing £850  I'm sure it will be lovely!so from where I'm sitting it doesn't look too bad
Thanks for your ideas

We have a similar number so will think carefully about this

Thankyou for all your ideas I will consider all of them!:T[0 -
Going back to the flowers when I got married (a long time ago!!!!) I used dried flowers which looked ok. I also bought 2 oasis balls placed them in flower pots on top of wooden dowel covered in ribbon with dried flowers placed in the oasis. Very effective. Dried roses are stunning and don't need much else. Button holes were also dried.
Favours were 1 jar of sugared almonds placed in square net and tied with ribbon.
we contacted our local art centre and got a photographer who was exibiting at the time. Much cheaper and more natural photos.
Good luck with all. whatever happens it will go so quickly so enjoy every minute.0 -
            Hi,
Thankyou for your reply I will consider the flowers, we have to make a decision by next Saturday.
Flowers have been quoted as;
Hand tied bouquets
Me canna lillies and roses £80
Bridesmaids roses £40 each x3
Buttonholes roses £2.95
Corsages mums' £6.95
Thankyou flowers £25 x2
Can't remember anything else (quote is upstairs and feeling very lazy after taking nephew out for the day!)
Wondered if I could query my bouquet and have a smaller one??

Are you definately sure you want calla lillies and roses? You could always go for a smaller bouquet to bring the cost down, have you thought of something like a pomander for the bridesmaids or wrist corsages? Might work out cheaper too.
Also the button holes sound a bit expensive, I think our florist does roses for £1.20. Have you had a ring around different florists to get comparisons?A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls...
