  • Sounds great, CM! Which sort have you?

I've treated myself to the expensive one Pen-Pen!!! But but then again I don't buy clothes and I did give up the ciggies 14th February!!! Haven't exactly noticed my purse awash with money, but I must be saving a small fortune!! And I did lose my darling mum this year (10th March) and felt I deserved a bit of spoiling :o . She would have thoroughly approved, always said go for the best quality, it'll repay you manyfold!! A very wise woman, my darling old mum!!! It doesn't feel as heavy as I expected, but is top quality, not a suggestion of warping on a highish heat!! Cleaned up a treat as well!! HTH CMxxx

CM Glad the griddlestone is working out well - it does make life a lot easier doesn't it? Don't forget, for best results you must refer to it as a 'llechwen' ;)

Kaz, you teach me how to pronounce it right and I'll happily show off!!! Nothing would give me greater pleasure, especially as one of my best friends had a welsh mother!!! Her DH is welsh-speaking (she isn't) and I'd love to impress him with my pronounciation, so it'll need to be foolproof!!! CMxxxx

Heading off to bed myself now, hope everyone has a great Saturday, followed by an equally great Sunday!!

Sounds like you've had a productive evening joannasmum. Good for you. It's always better to clear the air however difficult the conversation. I hope things seem brighter in the morning.

Morning everyone - hope you all had a better nights sleep than me. I've been more tired than usual all week & went to bed at 11 last night thinking 'oh goody, I can have a lie in tomorrow' & here I am at 3.45 having been awake for an hour.

I should have known better really, I always struggle to sleep after I've seen my eldest son because I worry about him so much. He turned 30 this year & has several problems, the most urgent is that he's an alcoholic that hasn't got his drinking under control at all at the moment. I went to his flat to deliver a washing machine for his birthday present. The place is filthy, there were about a dozen empty strong cider bottles in the kitchen & he looked AWFUL.

I took him & his brother (who thankfully is a very together sort of chap) out for something to eat so at least I know he had a decent meal yesterday, but I don't know what to do to help him. I've tried different things over the years but we always seem to end up with him doing something dreadful (usually stealing from me or DH) & then disappearing for months at a time - I expect off on a bender. The last time I didn't know where he was for over 2 years & I only managed to get back in touch with him in March.

I know I'm his mum & I'm biased but everyone who knows him says he a good person at heart but he has problems. I came close to a breakdown last time he ran off & I've learnt enough to know I need to protect myself as well so I'm trying to help without interfering, support without criticising. How do I know if I'm getting it right?

Sorry to go on but I thought if I wrote down what I was thinking I might be able to get back to sleep. I think I might go & have a good cry & then go back to bed.
  • Morning, all!

Dobie, (((((hug))))) to you. No advice to offer, but he's lucky to have a caring parent like you. :grouphug:

Joannasmum (((((hugs))))) to you, too. Hope things are clearer for you, now. :grouphug:

    Mark, Hello! :hello:

Snowy, your w*** sounds like a complete nightmare. Hugs for you too.

Churchmouse, good morning. Thanks for your info on the llechwen yesterday. :T

Kaz, I'd also like a pronunciation lesson. Then when I se my nieces, I'll be able to tell them thet there house has "dim llechwen". Does that make sense - we have a standing joke of adding "dim" to everything :confused:

Shez, did you enjoy the wine and minstrels? They've all gone now, so can I share your chocolate?

Aussie, I think I'm off with the silver savers, too! :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm 43 next month, btw, Shez. Power to us oldies!!

Cat, how's the head this morning? :D

Off to collect the children. MIL is wanting to buy a wireless laptop to keep in touch with the grandchildren, so we'll be advising her. FIL is very disapproving, he thinks that just thinking about the internet will get him a virus, and they'll steal all his possessions down the wire!

  • Morning Guys

Not a good night sleep here either.

WM is on. DW needs emptying and toilet cleaned. SIL came yesterday and did a brilliant clean for me:D

OH finished the gardening and DD & I just did girly things as someone else suggested;) We had a good talk about the school and says that shes not nervous of the new school as it will be her 2nd home for the next 7 years, but is worried about me:o ....I said she shouldnt be and that Im big and ugly enough to look after myself. Apparently, she's had a few dreams where Ive died and is worried that this will happen. Ive tried reassuring her, so hopefully that has helped.

Have decided that we will go to a local cinema near to my tutor on Monday, so that I have an extra 2 days to get it in;) Have free tickets for it and will calm everyones nerves before DD starting Tuesday. They go in later on the first day and finish earlier.

Dobie-Im sorry to hear about your son. (((((((((((hugs))))))))))) Is there a particular event that triggered the drinking? I have 2 alchoholics in family, but both was triggered by severe abuse as kids which in reality they couldnt deal with as adults. Sometimes events such as loosing jobs, partners, children being taken away by spouse etc can kick off drinking or drug abuse-but sometimes it can be nothing at all. Does he attend any counselling? .....have a sound GP? It must be very difficult for you and my thoughts are with you hun.

DD has a party at 5, then a sleepover at 8...will be very quiet here this evening.

    Breakie: Bacon Butties
Lunch: Baked Spud, ham and coleslaw
Dinner: Lamb Chop, New potatoes, veg and mint gravy

Anyone heard from MATH? I miss him so much. Or what about CurryQueen:confused: Wheres JW gone too? Please come back guys.

Have a good day everyone!! Hugs
