Breaking a car is a pain.

People on ebay constantly failing to collect parts, a car minus lots of parts sat outside whilst you find buyers, other parts scattered around the house while you try to sell them.

Get shot of it in one piece as a car without MOT job done.

I made good money from breaking a few cars up. It even paid for a decent "scenic drive" when I delivered a gearbox to mid Wales.
    Happy chappy

    Just to update.

    I got £100 for it
The guy came and took it away on his trailer.

    From my experience
In these parts the best prices are with the get 'down and dirty' scrap merchants the ones who drive around looking for an oppurtunistic pot of gold (read scrap), at times they go around the neighbourhood ringing a bell to get attention, a lot of these guys are of Irish heritage.

Without the info I gained from this thread and the other I started the 'going rate' would have been £50!
But having played off a few against each other I managed to get to £100 which is a decent price overall.
    Heres to market research

    Hi

To be honest, take it to the scrapyard.
I took my 306 there last week, got £250 scrap.
I left everything on it, took the CD player out and afew bulbs.
I still had 3 weeks MOT and 1 months Tax, I have sent the TAX back to DVLA as it still had one whole month left to run.
be warned to inform DVLA of it being scraped as the scrapyard didnt sign the V5 till I made them and I sent it right back, I was also given a notice to state the car will never be returned to the road.

    Goodluck!

Had a 'heated' telephone exchange with the guy who picked up the Cav, I suspected correctly that he gave a dud address for the V5.
Didn't suprise me and I wasn't that bothered since I had taken a few precautionary steps.

The main reason why I rang him was to get info on what he actually done with the car so I could cut out the dishonest middle man next time out........ AND I GOT IT....
In a moment of madness he mentioned (In a thick Irish accent), "scrapyard in Aylesbury".
Even then it took an hour or so of ringing around and getting two opinions from the same company but I'm certain he goes to

    ASM
    Griffin Lane
    Aylesbury
    HP19 8BB

Sure enough they said if I drive an old banger in they will weight it and for a Cavalier I should get in the region of £150!!! :j :T
Don't need to remove the tyres or anything else, just need the log book and photo ID.

So any MSErs in that area you know where to go, and please don't forget to hit the Thanks Button.
