pigpen and mudbath - there's the third theory, which is that:

Any two pieces of clutter, left in proximity, will multiply, doubling in quantity every 24 hours.

Now, I'm not paranoid, but I swear that some days I can see the clutter creeping in gradually from the sides of the room...in this room, there were just a few things stacked behind the sofa, while we were decorating the bedroom, and you should see the mountain now.

boddy - yes, I know that you'd understand. It isn't easy some days is it?

g&b - I remember our guinea pigs when we got rid of the carpet and replaced with laminate - just as you describe - or the four legs all shot out a different angles, and they slid around on tummies for a bit!

I have vacuumed the livingroom, and that's about it so far.

DS2 had a very rough time at the dentist's, although she seemed quite good. There was quite a deep area that had decayed, and an infection, so 4 injections, one nerve removed, a temp filling, antibiotics, and a great deal of pain. I brought him straight home, dosed him up with ibuprofen, and tucked him up on the sofa (no easy task, as he's over 6ft...) and DS1 put on a film for him. He doesn't feel much better now so just hoping that it improves by tomorrow.

Which could be an excuse for me not to fly in the livingroom, but there's no real reason why I can't quietly declutter...

:rotfl: So does that mean so long as I leave clutter evenly spaced across the house with nothing too close to each other it won't breed? I tell you, I must have the rabbits of clutterland here because my stuff is breeding at a faster rate than once every 24 hours!!! :rotfl: xx

    I'm a theory 1 person too!!
I start with good intentions then fizzle out very quickly!!

That's why I love the idea of 'babysteps'. Things that my limited attention span can deal with before I get bored!!!

Have to say the cleaning part i am quite good with in respect of flying but I do struggle to SEE the clutter when it has been there for a while. My DH is even worse.

    Today so far I have...

Got up at silly'o'clock and laughed with glee at waking the kids up by jumping on their bed/asking lots of questions/poking things up their noses/demanding they make my breakfast
Left my car at dealership to be fixed, drove DH to work, came home
Dropped DS1 off at school, dropped keys off at dealership
    Had a 3 hour nap cos I got up at silly'o'clock (wish I hadn't)
Picked up at thing or two
Sat at PC on etsy having a necklace custom made ( shhhh don't tell DH!)
Collected DS1 from school, got call to say car is ready
    Went to butcher
Got home realising I have probably missed TV repair man
    Gave kids cake
Spilled a huge mmug of coffee on the kitchen counter, made anothe mug and walked away from the mess
Came here with :coffee: and paper and crisps and chewing gum

    I think I may need a kick.
