As with the case for most banks, in order to improve your internal behaviour score you would need to:

    1. Credit at least £500-750 into your current account regularly (monthly)
    2. Have a savings account with them (the more £££ the better)
    3. Have a standing order going into a savings account every month
    4. Use overdraft/credit card facility responsibly without breaching Ts&Cs
    5. Have direct debits
    6. Regularly use debit card and cheque
    7. Not withdraw cash from cash machine more than once a week
    8. Having a cheque guarantee card will mean that your score is near or above average
    9. The length of time you've been with your bank will have an impact on your internal score

If you can follow all or most of the above tips your internal score should shoots right up and your bank will be throwing products at you.

    Same as skyrider.
I wanted an upgrade on my account and was told that I couldnt as had not funded the account enough, and was told they can look again at your account in 3 months if you have been operating the account correctly and not going overdrawn without an overdraft.

Hope you get the account you want

Goodluck with it, have the same issue, got one default and one account that has a late payment, default I cant get rid of for 3 years as well.
I went to my bank about upgrading and they did tell me that the default would not put them off upgrading my account as long as my internal credit score was high enough.
Hope that you get it all sorted in the end.

thats good to know i hope you get to where you want to go.

i do however think that 6 years is a long time for a default to kick you in the @ss even more so if you have reasons behind the default/ ccj i will get there in the end and so will many others reading this post!

    A & L told me this.
I was promised a overdraft when I switched my account and all my direct debits over to them over a yera ago, of a minimum of £250.00, however they did not give me the overdraft and I had closed my previous account that I had a £700.00 overdraft on.
I applied two months ago for an overdraft with them (again) and was told to make many payments by card as possible and that I could re-apply in 3 months, I was advised however by the person I spoke to they thought that the way my account was being operated that I should have got a minimum overdraft with them and to write to there underwritters, havent as of yet.
I know where you are coming from, 6 years for a default is long time, this is my first (and last) default but has affected me getting the account and credit card I wanted.
Hope that in end you get all your credit sorted

I don't think you'll get a OD with a CCJ on your history....
