I'm going to make a start on the Game Overing for 29/30/31 July as there is gonna be a fair few and I'm not about much tomorrow (Thurs 31st) and I'm not back til Mon cos I got a long weekend with James
You can still enter 30/31 comps from the comps ending threads it just they will be showing as being in Game Over as opposed to the main boards

Just wanted to add my thoughts here:
I think everyone here is very friendly about duplicate posts.. Short of awarding duplicate posters with awards, I don't know what they could do to be friendlier!
I've never noticed a newbie's question being ignored... and the whole reason there are comprehensive comping guides at the top of the forum is because the kind regulars here DON'T want newbies to feel left in the dark!
Speaking from personal experience, sometimes it can be easy to misread the intent of people's posts on a forum - particularly if they use the rolleyes smiley, which isn't always meant in an insulting way! So rather then jumping to conclusions about what a poster's intent is, always try and think past the pixelsxxx

Just wanted a bit of advice about an express competition that I won - a sony vaio laptop. Since I had the letter telling me I've won, I've not had a peep out of them. I've waited the 8 weeks the letter said it might take the prize to arrive, and since then I've emailed 3 times, and tried to phone the lady who wrote the letter but just get voicemail that she doesn't respond to.
I've just emailed again, and copied in the editor of the website, but if that doesn't get me a response, does anyone have any suggestions as to where I can go next. It's so frustrating seeing my email head into the ether without even knowing they've arrived - I just want to talk to a real person!
Any one know anyone at the express I can harass? ThanksAll shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
From the comping guide
What happens if my prize doesn’t turn up?
This is going to be individual to each comp. Usually it will state in the T & C for each comp how long it should take for the prizes to be dispatched to winners. As a general rule though or in the absence of any particular details in the T & C, allow 28 days, (allow more if we are experiencing postal strikes or extreme weather conditions). If the prize hasn't arrived by then, get in touch with the company offering the prize. Try to contact the person whose details you have & ask politely if there is a problem with delivery. A telephone call is the best way, but failing that try emailing them. If they don't reply, look on the original website for contact details & contact them, again being as polite as you can.
If you still get no response from them, there are a few different things you can try.
The Institute of Sales Promotions complaints@isp.org.uk lay down the guidelines which comp organisors must follow. MSE Compers have reported that they are very good at investigating dodgy comps & missing prizes with one chap in particular Edwin Mutton, being an absolute star.
The Advertising Standards Authority have an online complaints form.
I had an issue with a prize not turning up & after chasing politely for 5 months, I mentioned that I had been advised to talk to the Institute of Sales Promotions about the matter. Funnily enough that resulted in a letter of apology within a few days, along with a box of ‘Apology Goodies’ & my prize turned up 2 weeks later. Just remember to keep your cool & remain polite.0 -
Thanks kipper - perhaps next time I'll read the stickies properly before I post.:o I should know better by now.
I can't find my contact's phone or email number on the site - in the letter I was given a general competitions one, which everyone appears to be ignoring. I'll keep trying with phone calls and emails for a bit longer before I bring the big guns of the ISP on, although if I have to wait 5 months I will probably implode well before then.......I will be polite.........I will be polite......( sounds of gritted teeth)All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

Hi elsien, I really, really hope that your laptop doesn't take 5 months to turn up! I'd be doing my pieces if I won something like a lappy & had to wait that long! Mine was just a DVD Boxset.
Perhaps you could try a different contact number for them & explain the situation? I've found the contacts page for the Express, perhaps the General Enquiries number or even Daily Express Website - Online Editor Geoff Marsh?
Just had a quick trip to saynoto0870.com & found some other numbers you might like to try which are a bit cheaper...
Daily Express 0871 434 1010 - 0800 376 8000
Daily Express Newsdesk 0871 434 1010 - 0208 612 7071 (From what I gather, they can put you through to other departments, including Sunday Express paper, who do not work Sundays or Mondays).
(Hasn't copied too well but I've tried to move it around to make sense! Might be worth taking a look on the sayno website for Daily Express to see the proper table of info!)
Good luck & don't be afraid to mention the Institute of Sales Promotions (politely) if you really aren't getting anywhere with them.
You watch, you'll just be sorting this out & it will turn upSad because you don't know what to do? Comping question? Take a look in the Comping Guide to find out0 -
Thanks for the 0800 numbers - just putting them on speed dial as we speak.:D .
I've already copied Geoff Marsh in on my last email, so will see if that gets me anywhere. It's just voicemail that drives me crazy - almost as bad as "press 1 for sales, press 2 for god knows what, press 3 for - oops there isn't a number to press for the person you actually want to speak to."All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I'm sure one of the board guides will be along soon to move it;)
As for The Sun - go to the front page of it and along the top it should say 'MYSUN' click on that and then click on 'MYPROFILE'
Hope that works for you
If you have anything else to ask, it's best to post in the Competitions Discussion thread, it's a sticky near the top0
