Hope I'm in the right place!
Just wondered if it would be OK to post a short story competition I have organised for the charity I work for? Have not used the competition forum on here before and there is a charge/donation for entry which i think goes against MSE rules?
If anybody can guide me as to wether it would be OK, I'd be very grateful
    kind regards
    Jane

    From the Basic Rules -

    2. Free Competitions Only. This is a not a place to advertise competitions you have to pay to enter. I will accept limited cost text message type competitons (though frankly they're usually naff apart from in special circumstances) where they cost up to £1.50 to text to enter, but generally I would say make sure they are free.

Somewhere there is a rule about not posting your own competitions, but I can't find it at the moment.

    Hello there,

I'm not very knowledgeable about this, but would the Charities Board be the appropriate place to post this? Perhaps someone can advise please. :)

Hi couponqueen, welcome to the comps forum.

There seems to be a new discussion thread about free/ purchase/ pay comps on the main board:

Might be worth asking there as well.

I suggest you email abuse(email link in my sig) and ask them as i'm not sure you're allowed.Technically you aren't supposed to promote your own site/comp even if it is a charity but they might let you:)

Just to say you'll soon get into comping and I'm sure will find this a very friendly place to be!

Good luck and, when you win your first prize, make sure you post it in the "I've Won" forum at the top of the competition page icon10.gif

    Hi
I received a WEM at the end of July stating I had won a prize and could I forward them my address to them within 21 days so they could send the prize to me. Sent reply the following day (1 Aug) with details and had been expecting prize to arrive shortly.

Rang the person today who had emailed me on 31 July who stated that because he'd not heard from me, the prize has been given to someone else. I still have the email I sent on 1 Aug in my outbox.

Is there anything I can do?

    Thanks
