Hi guys
Just a reminder that this board's for competitions that don't cost you anything (or very very little) to enter. If you're unsure can you have another read of Martin's sticky post.
Thanks!
Andrea

Hi Andrea:)
We get quite a few now that are say £1.50 text or maybe a pound what do we class as very little or do you want us to remove ALL comps that aren't free?:)Darren0 -
50p text is too rich for me0

From Martin's sticky:
2. Free Competitions Only. This is a not a place to advertise competitions you have to pay to enter. I will accept limited cost text message type competitons (though frankly they're usually naff apart from in special circumstances) where they cost up to £1.50 to text to enter, but generally I would say make sure they are free.
Seems mad to pay anything like that, given everything else on offer on this board, as others have said (I never text enter at all), but people seem to go for them.
I get the impression that Andrea might be referring to comps requiring a purchase.Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

So, where do you draw the line? I don't go out of my way to enter comps where I have to buy something unless it's something I normally buy anyway. I've entered the Magnum comp a few times just because I buy them for mr kateab from time to time. I knew about the Clover comp because I had a tub of it (not a normal purchase but I didn't buy it cos of the comp iyswim).
Surely, if people are buying chocolate bars, say - that should be OK. Does the £1.50 rule apply to those as well? Most of them have an NPN route anyway.

I have entered text ones & won - especially the Boots one (anyone remember that?) & I have also listed comps with purchase required but not many x2023 wins - Rice Krispies, Avene Micellar Gel, Barbie Toy, £20 Apple Gift Card, KFC 6 piece bargain bucket, Chloe Nomade perfume, Barbie Toy (second one), Sanctuary Spa Sleep Balm, E45 Moisturising Lotion, Trolls Hamper, 12 Tonie Characters, Sure deodorant, Good Home Utensil holder, £5 Costa Gift Card, Neutrogena Micellar Jelly, Soap & Glory Mascara, Persil capsules,0

I have been asking for clarification on these as the post I did where you had to buy Kerrygold to win a bag was deleted, although you could check the sleeve first. Then someone else posted it and it wasn't removed. So I contacted the office for clarification. I was told my post had been deleted because it necessitated a purchase and, as I pointed out, so did the other that wasn't deleted. Then they reinstated my post despite the fact it still needed a purchase!
I also tried to make the point that other comps are posted that require a purchase and they aren't removed. I wanted to have assurance that you cannot post if a purchase is required and, if you did, the post is removed - everytime and not just on selected posts. I was upset that mine had been removed but the identical later post hadn't been and neither had these other posts.

I suppose that, to take Martin at his word, it has to be NPN except for text entry comps up to the max of £1.50.
There are so many comps - I got back to 90 pages after Edinburgh. :eek:Al Mac Appreciation Society No. 188

The subject of this came up a little while ago on a post, can't remember which.
Does this also include things then like the Pepsi codes comp etc ??? is there anywhere where we could draw peoples attention to comps like that if they arn't allowed to be posted???0 -

Tis already about the 9th sticky down in the rulesRicky has noted the exact point in the post further up the thread.
There was recently a comp posted which was £25 to enter (I think this may have sparked a reminder!!) - the said comp appears to have been removed.
I think purchase comps are ok - where it is something you would buy normally, I wouldn't specifically go out and buy a load of Clover just to enter a comp, but maybe some folk would! :rotfl:Jo x2007:£5181.09 2008: £6619.70 2009: £4284.49 2010: £5213.14 2011: £4980.62 2012: £3188.52

Like others have said, where does MSE want to draw the line? Does being for charity make a difference to the 'free' (or up to £1.50) comps only rule? From MSE Martin - Some General Tips On Holiday Home Organisations and Sales Meetings
