It shouldn't really matter if the comp ending lists go as people can still spend the same amount of time comping as they did before so not sure why there is so much fuss about it
I think some people just want it all done for them, someone to find the comp, someone to post the answer, someone to put in into a comp ending list and I am surprised they haven't asked for there to be someone who takes names and addresses to enter for them
As I said, I think the comps ending lists are nice but as I have been doing it for a few weeks now I am getting the hang of getting them all done early.
It wont make many odds to me if they stay or go, I just don't understand why it is a big deal to some people
I wouldn't want to pay anyone to do it for me - I enjoy doing it but if the BG's are getting harassed over lists that aren't even supposed to be part of the forum then I can see why they might not want them here.
Also, looking at some of those lists.. that must take someone ages to do :cool:0 -

Just a quick post from me tonight as its taken me ages to update myself! I think a sticky with the comps ending rules (great idea xoxlauraxox) is a must if the lists are to stay (although sadly I think it may be too late to save them)
Night all, have to go to bed, I just know im going to be up at 4ish again with a teething 15 month old!Comping addict since 2007 - still waiting for 'the big one' :j0 -

mmm, kiddies sleep. My DS has just gone two and still fights to stay up til 9:eek: .Daddy gets home at 19:30 so he tends to wait up for him, although mostly he sleeps until 7 or 7.30am. Our trouble is food-whats that mum:question:
As for the comps ending list_Ive always logged on each day and gone through the new posts (just run through the subjects), then I use the list to check it. I find most days Ive entered them all already.
I say whatever it takes to make the board happy again, Im not a "newbie" anymore and not yet and "oldie". But there are so many people who are afraid to post for fear of repercussions (Im guilty of this myself sometimes)-every poster who's name doesnt appear on the board everyday seems to feel they need to apologise for their opinions when they do post. But when they dont post they are "told words" for not contributing.
Before the lists we would actually read the threads instead of just scanning them-and I think thats really why the board was so friendly:)
When I signed up it was because MSE was a community forum where I could share ideas:idea: Not just "do a google".
I miss that.0 -

I don't think the BG's wanted any more stickies though ???
...however what makes more sense to me, should the comps ending list stay... When volunteers are requested to compile the list clearly state the rules in the start of *that post* - then anyone who signs up will see it and have no excuse for not knowing.
i.e.
"Now looking for people to compile comps ending lists for September. Before you volunteer for a list please ensure you are familiar with the rules of posting a comps ending list prior to volunteering. The rules can be found here [insert link]..........."
Or words to that effect.
It would seem a lot of people have kindly volunteered to do a comps ending list oblivious to the fact that there is a rules to adhere to. I know I volunteered a while back (but there was enough people) and I didn't know there were rules until this discussion started. I just wanted to contribute and as I had a broken foot at the time I had loads of spare time on my hands.
Yesterday my kids were out visiting their dad for the day so I sorted threads by start time and went right back to the last page and have been working my way through. I'm now caught up to 5th Aug - so hopefully by tomorrow I should be fully on top of all the comps. This means that all I'll have to do each day is enter the comps that are posted since I last logged on. So as others have mentioned, I will have no need for the comps ending list myself anyway.
It doesn't bother me if people lurk and don't contribute. Not everyone enjoys online forums or feels inclined to contribute. This is a public forum that can be viewed by anyone and we are all aware of that when we post. Loquax have certain forums that can only be viewed after you've made a minimum amount of posts - I'd hate for MSE to be that way. I enjoy the vibe of the entire MSE community because it is so open and accessible. I lurked on MSE (mainly the freebies forum) for a good couple of years before I even bothered to sign up. Even then it was a while before I felt ready to contribute and post. People that are lurking today could turn out to be frequent competition posters at some point.:T*Thanks to all who posts comps * :j0
