Nice to see you back toni, Hope your well
(this is not aimed at anyone) I guess I'm still a 'newbie' but there really didn't seem to be all this bad feeling when there wasn't a comp ending list.£2021 in 2021 no.17 £1,093.20/£20210 -
I feel like some people are using been ill/disabled/busy as an excuse for 'needing' the comps ending threads which I think is silly. You will still be able to enter just as many comps without the lists yet whenever this seems to be pointed out it is ignored because people don't want to admit it. The comps ending threads are causing a divide and a lot would be solved if they were to go.
I agree with Toniq that this is been turned into a newbies v oldies... I don't know what that makes me though because I'm a newbie to comping but agree with the oldies as such lol I think we should all just agree to disagree and leave it at that for now. Nothing can be done until the BGs can have a discussion anyway so theres no point dwelling. Thanks to everyone that posts :T:money:

My tuppence worth - I'm a "newbie" and the Comps Ending lists were very useful to me in the beginning, but I don't use them so much now. I prefer to go through the site now myself and only use Comps Ending for anything I might have missed and fancy entering. I wouldn't really miss them, but do appreciate the work that people put in to doing them.
Also, thanks to the board guides for their work - it can't be easy keeping track of this place!Love all, trust a few. Do wrong to none.

Couldn't agree moreI've got multiple sclerosis and suffer from chronic fatigue & almost constant pain in my legs but I still manage to enter plenty of comps and post a few as well. When if feel too ill, I switch off the lappy and forget about comping - it's just a hobby after all and my health is far more important to me than winning stuff.
As for being too busy to comp without the lists, there are other sites (as mentioned several times) that have the same sort of lists, so that's not really a valid argument either. Comping is a time-consuming hobby for all of us who try to keep the board thriving. If you're limited with time, use another site or try a different hobby maybe? A lot of people on here use loquax/prizefinder etc. as well - it's no big deal really. You can always hop back to MSE whenever you like.
I wonder if the £2008 challenge plays at least a small part in this? Some people seem to almost panic-enter all sorts of comps just to amass as much money as possible  I'm doing the challenge for a bit of fun but I don't suppose my life will change dramatically either way, whether I reach the target or not.
In conclusion to the [strike]sermon[/strike] ramble, I'm all for the lists going now. I usually have a look at them, mostly to do the ITV ones that I can't always be [strike]arsed[/strike] bothered to do but I don't like all the unhappiness and stress they've caused.Probably playing on fb0 -
In the words of Little Britain "what a cuffle". I've not been on the forum (as a whole, comps/wins/discussion) for some time as I've been away and started back at work but I have to say the comps ending list is creating a lot of discussion/anger/bad feeling.
When I started doing the comps I used the old fashioned way of going through the list by sorting through the thread dates and this has worked fine. I use the 'end of' to check if any new ones have been included (and whether I want to apply) so it doesn't take a great deal of time to complete and I always thank the OP who has complied the list regardless of whether I enter any new ones or not. However, I also appreciate the lists take a heck of a lot of time and especially at the end of the month. I've done a few myself and I'm always paranoid that I've missed some!
It's not down to us to decide whether they stay or go - we'll have to wait until the BG's are back so do you think it's time we put this baby to bed and get back to comping, discussing people's wins, weight loss, how many poo's they've had today  and also get the happy comping spirit back to MSE?
Everyone is in it to win and as Princess said, if people don't like it then try another site - only thing is you won't get your answers on the other sites so it will take you even longer to complete!
Have a good weekend everyone - off to see Mama Mia.........;)LBM 1st May 2012 £53,839

The comps ending lists started after I joined. I cant remember how it started, but surely if someone wants to do a ending list that is up to them , isnt it just llike posting a new thread at the end of the day. I think when it first started people who did it wanted to do it , so is it anything to do with us if we want it or dont want it, its down to them and personal choice isnt it

I deleted my last post as i felt i didnt convey properly what i had on my mind.
The lists are an extra, a bonus in a sense, they were on trial, ive helped compile rotas, and done many lists, i rarley ever use them, i just pick and choose what i enter through the comps pages. Its simply down to the fact there is no way for everyone to be forced to be made fully aware of rules and guidelines set out by Diva, so we truthfully have no way to make sure that the lists flow as they should do, getting people to follow the strict rules diva set out on this is impossible so harmony regarding this will never be restored as long as lists are around. So we will always go around and around in circles. Poor iwanna has gone away on her hols all down about this which is such a shame. I just think people need to face facts and see its never gonna work. xxxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
I agree with toniq
The lists were allowed only if rules were adhered to. This, as people have said, hasn't happened. Maybe the bgs, with their knowledge of how things run, foresaw this and that's why they didn't want them in the first place.
Yes, us compers can come on and post what we like but it's the bgs who have to mop up our mess and this must be an absolute nightmare some days. The simple truth is that the experiment hasn't worked - mainly because everyday life takes over and people can't, for whatever reason, follow the rules. So, collectively, we've made a mess of it.
The compers who've volunteered to organise the lists have all been left upset/disheartened by how things have turned out. None of us should feel like that cos we all want to come on here and have a laugh and enjoy each others' company. It's all well and good to say the lists should stay but how can any of us, hand on heart, say that we could make a better job of it than what has already been done. I certainly couldn't.
So, I just wanna thank everyone for their efforts cos trying to take control of a large group of people is nigh on impossible and despite all the aggro, I still love it on here and hope to see everyone back on here, comping happily and looking back on this whole kerfuffle, laughing about it
Last thing, I think I win the prize today for being the biggest minger on here cos I haven't even had a wash yet
Edit: am now showered and fresh as a daisyProbably playing on fb0 -
Why have you deleted most of your posts peej?
I suspect that's what's messed up the post counts here and in the Inn - it's confused a few people who work out where they were up to by post #
*Edit* This now looks completely random and off topic. Peej had posted just above me, but has now deleted yet another post. Has been quoted in mj38's post below if anyone wants to see what was written :rolleyes:Al Mac Appreciation Society (AMAS) member # 6½

I just want to say that I am a newbie here but I have been comping for a while from other websites and comp magazines. I really enjoy logging every day to MSE as I feel it's a great sharing community. I never use the ending comp lists as I much prefer going through the pages looking at the dates and select the prizes I would like to win. That is a personal choice. I have left other forums as the community was falling apart and things were getting nasty between people so please let MSE remain a friendly and welcoming forum and I wish everyone the best of luck for some amazing forthcoming prizes...A big thank you to all people who post comps and make comping a fanstastic hobby although it's very time-consuming as my children and husband would say!!!0
