Does everyone Google to find comps? I tried doing that but just ended up finding a load of spammy sites. I think i have only found 2 comps which wern't already on here and they were emailed to me in a newsletter

The comps ending thread has always been a contentious issue, some wanted it, a lot didn't, but we was overrruled by the powers that be for it to stay in place


I for one am against it, and always have been, its a lazy way of comping and if people wanted ending comps, they could go somewhere else. And its not as if there isn't a billion comps being posted a day


My main issue with it, is that if anything does go wrong its the BG's that get it in the neck, PM's about it etc... its nothing to do with us! and that fact was stated when the lists were made a permanent.


If you don't like them, then don't use them, if you do then fine good luck to you, but its pointless going on about it, nothing will change unless something major happens

or look for win a hamper, make up, holiday ect ect

I actually like the comp ending threads, I find them very useful to play catch up especially if I can't get on the boards for a few days :money: .

I much PREFER the daily emails tbh but I think we all know this are far too unreliable - is there any results to the complaints a while ago about these?

I certainly haven't noticed a drop in winnings, if anything I tend to win more

To a certain extend I think those who are saying get rid so they can win more are being a tad selfish (sorry )

If strict rules were made for it then maybe it would run smoother?

1 - No posting them before 8pm, perferably after 10pm (if you can't do this then PM another person to add it to the board for you)

2 - ONLY post if it's your day to post (unless no1 applies)

3 - Perhaps PM a BG as soon as it's up so it can be made 'sticky' asap therefore not cluttering the board

4 - Wording at the start of it can be finalised so have to put it in, something along the lines of what is being added most of the time now (no bumping, person to do tomorrows list is x, etc etc)

5 - If someone finds a comp that should be on that days list but isn't then PM the person doing that day POLIETY to mention it so it can be added

6 - Anything else

I have certainly seen a downturn in wins for myself, but there again I don't use the thread

Not at all, I think you'll find those that said get rid are probably those that didn't want it anyway

It was meant to go up the night before anyway part of the plan when it was agreed, more and more times its been going on earlier and earlier during the day due to "personal issues" etc

Only a few times has someone posted when its not their turn, but thats lack of communications between the volunteers

Thats fine in theory, but if there is no-one on, then it will be stuck as "unstickied" til someone gets on

I can see your point of view Kipper but like I said if the daily emails were reliable it would be a much better solution all round - do you agree?

I've never subscribed to the daily emails - what are they about?

Possibly, but I never used them either, although I realise there has been a problem with them coming through.


I think this comping lark has got far too serious IMO, specially on here in the lasy year or so, this board has got bigger and bigger and sometimes its a competition in itself trying to post and keep up with it!


I do it as a bit of fun, a hobby, I don't make lists, keep records etc, I am in it to win it, but its not the end of the world if I don't

If you subscribe the 'comps forum' you get an email just after midnight with all the comps posted on the boards within the last 24 hours, supposed to be every day but sadly sometimes these are missing for a few days, even weeks at a time

I can't comment on if my wins have gone down because I haven't been comping long... it was the comps ending thread that got me into comping at first though so I can see how wins would go down because theres more people entering... I think theres too many different opinions on this so its going to cause a problem either way.... I'm guessing a lot of people that use the comps ending list aren't even registered users, i find that a bit unfair.

i didn't know about the daily thread either, but it seems like it would be a good alternative if it were reliable.
