What is your MSE bug bear?

  • My biggest bug bear at the moment is the fact assume just because I dress smartly (primark, charity shops and chain store clearance stores), I drive a nice car thats kept clean and tidy and that I work for a big company that I have money to burn and this includes my OH (sometimes) and the youngest. Everything is carefully budgetted and I can't fritter away 20 quid (at best!) for a McD's (we have food in the house that will spoil so why waste MORE money); a tenner a month for charity (yes I'd love to but sorry spent 5 years volunteering for a charity and I STILL bake items for charity coffee mornings and NEVER claim money for my ingredients); 50 quid in fancy hairdressers (just because youngest wants to show off to her pals, and can't see the fact they'll pick on her because she goes to the expensive hairdresser and not the same one we all go to!); money off vouchers for VERY expensive items (my clubcard discount vouchers are for items that I've never used and am unlikely to use i.e. 6 quid shampoo and booze...... I don't drink!); office collections (all my good friends no longer work here so why should I put in more than a pound for someone I hardly know? They suggested 20 quid each on the last one!!! Sorry don't think so, I felt like questioning what they were buying him with donations like that..... a car?????!!!!), I could mention many many more but my blood is starting to boil!
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J
  • My bug-bear are the people that ridicule us for having an allotment, call us Margo and Jerry or say I should wear a flat cap and a cardigan because I must be an 'old man' (despite being only 40)....

....then are first in the queue when we've got excess vegetables to sell!!

And then they have the cheek to say 'it doesn't cost anything to grow it, why should we pay'

Yeah, because seeds and everything are provided by Thompson and Morgan for nought, aren't they!

Heaven forbid, a hobby that not only gets us out in the fresh air doing exercise, growing produce that is fresher than the supermarket and is better for the environment - and saves us about £250 per year!!!!

Perhaps we should stay in and watch X-Factor!

    I stay in & watch x-factor.

But I would love to have the time & effort to have a vegetable patch, well done you:T
  • Well, I do stay in and watch X Factor really

You can't do an allotment on a Saturday night

But, seriously, growing veg is absolutely fantastic, it makes such a difference to the weekly grocery budget and you don't have to have an allotment. A simple tub on a balcony or porch will take lettuce, tomatoes or even carrots!

Teenagers who leave the immersion heater on when they've had their bath. And claim they switched it off hours ago.

Lights left on around the house.

Refusal to do a paper round ...why? ....nobody knows.
For what I've done...I start again...And whatever pain may come ...Today this ends... I'm forgiving what I've done -AF since June 2007
  • I would love an allotment but have been on the waiting list for over 5 years!!!

Apparently there are not a lot of allotments in Edinburgh, but a lot of people in the queue.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

There you go, DM finally has a purpose - the warming useful kind :p :rotfl: saving you money on electric and reducing clutter :T

I am not sure if this counts as a bugbear, but the Jane Fonda skin cream ads... you know the ones - that say her skin is amazing, even though she has had loads of surgery, and then throughout the ads uses flowers, scarves, coats, shirts and her hands to cover up her neck :o:p

Also, friends who don't want to openly use vouchers etc themselves, but you find 'amazingly' get in touch as soon as you have vouchers / orange wednesdays / discount codes etc
