The guy registered for the first time barely an hour before your own petty & ignorant comment.

I at least offered advice before moaning at him, which is more than you've contributed to the thread. :T

Come on ladies, dont start on here, not tonight, I cant be chewed.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.

A pound a transaction's horrible, but they do the credit builder thing which might be of use to the OP. There are plenty of cards with no transaction fees, or very small transaction fees.

They've got two tariffs I see, one with no monthly charge but a £1 charge per transaction, ad one that's a fiver a month with no charges. I guess the OP would have to decide if it's worth it.

There might be some Cifas entry (fraud warning) against your name or address:

Try Yorkshire Building Society's Cash Transactor account. It comes with a LINK atm card, direct debits, standing orders, bill payments and you can have your wages paid in too. You can use the account at any branch of YBS or Britainnia BS or online.

Why would someone register this against my name? If they did then why don't people let you know what they are doing and why they are doing it? I thought before you had a default or ccj registered then the companies had to give you notice. Does this not apply to CIFAs as well.
oh I am so confused! Banks and Financial companies are such a minefield these days. What happened to just being able to pay cash/cheques/wages in and then drawing money out. No credit/overdrafts debt etc!!
Didn't even know what a CIFA was until I read the link!
  • My brother has a basic cash card account with barclays and his credit is dire, and i mean dire. The only problem he has sometimes is if he needs petrol and the closest place is asda. They no longer take cash only debit/credit card and he has neither. I suppose it depends what kind of services you are looking for but barclays cash card account does not do credit checks just ID checks.

Thanks for the replies...lots of food for thought.
I was under the impression that Lloyds didn't do any credit checks and would accept bad credit problems with this account. their only issues were with Brankruptcy or Fraud and as far as I am aware neither of these apply to me! I need to find out about my credit files asap but i'm stuck as theya re looking for payment with a debit or credit card and I have neither.

All I want is a basic account. How can people refuse you without giving an explanation???
  • Usually if things are refused there is a paragraph at the bottom of the letter suggesting that if you want any further explanations to write to the credit reference agency they use. I think this may be your best course of action here.
