    No mention of Kitz?
Ellmau is a good location for families and beginners, and you have the full run of the Wilder Kaiser valley to have a go at from St.Johann to Soll.

Ah - Soll! That takes me back... Is it still as lively?

I've been twice, once having lessons (four hours a day - we skied everywhere) and once just to cruise with friends (on the slopes!) Last time I went it was Easter and very warm, snow a bit slushy but I got a fab tan.

And the night life was fun too.

I was there on Jan 6ht a few years ago and it's the only ski resort I've been to where the bars are full in the daytime...full of people recovering from hangovers. Does that answer your question? :D
I'm more of a hiker and climber than a skier and was hiking from Ellmau to Kufstein when I called into Soll for lunch, but Soll is one place where a pair of skis can be little more than an accessory at times.
I love discovering the little villages like Natters and Mutters :D

It hasn't changed then! The good thing about the wildness of Soll is that the slopes are relatively quiet when real skiers want to get out there.
There are lots of villages and hamlets in that area - great places for lunch or a hot chocolate.

Well the Whiskey Muhle is still going strong if that gives you an even better idea. It was my mates' favourite hangout until they ventured over to Andorra for a couple of seasons...but the Muhle dragged them back.

It looks like a bumper season snow wise, at least for those who have gone early season.
