My wife is French and for many years we always went to France. one day she was flipping through a ski brochure and saw that Austrian hotels were cheaper than France. As a women who looks after my money she said "I know I am French but let us try Austria once". We did and have not been back to France since, to ski that is.There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0

I went back to skiing last November after a 6 year break and went on the Atomic Boot Camp in Tignes, this was a great 4 day trip, 3 days skiing with everything apart from the flights included for just £99. :j
To be honest, I wasn't really fit enough, so struggled with the altitude and booked again for last month, that time was a lot better. I have now taken the plunge and booked again for another 4 day trip in December, booked and paid for (£139) before Easijet have even released the flights  . I have skied in Chamonix & Valloire before in France, all my other holidays have been in Italy or Austria. To be honest, I would like to try somewhere new for my next trip, but while this company carry on dishing out cheapie holidays, it looks like it will be Tignes for a while longer. .
I wouldn't recommend Tignes for a total beginner, but for those who have done some work on the dry slope or 1 week on snow, you should be fine.:j"Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0 -
Wow that does sound good value (shame I'm confined to school hols!) The Atomic Boot Camp sounds rather challenging though!! I've skied in Tignes and Val d'Isere, both great places and masses of skiing. I've skied in Chamonix this year which has been my favourite though it might have been the whole 'package', as the accommodation was very good and it was a great group (I went on my own). The Vallee Blanches was quite an experience too.....
It's been a while since I've been to Switzerland as I've skied mainly in France over the last few years, so that's another temptation with Verbier, though it definitely wouldn't be £139!somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

Sorry, Boot camp makes it sound like hard work !!, it was a chance to test the new Atomic Boots & Ski's. The one they are doing this year is in conjunction with a Ski shop in Britain and runs from September 26th to Dec 14th costing £99 in September and working it's way up to £139 for December, covering half term, so you could be ok. The early dates will be glacier only but from end of November the whole of the Espace Killy will be open.
They have a website http://www.skiandboardcamp.com./.
Just to point out, I am nothing to do with the company, just a bargain hunter who likes to ski on the cheap !!"Dogs come when they are called. Cats take a message and get back to you" :j :j0 -
Thought I'd revive this great thread
Anyone booked anything new yet?
I'm in Norway in a few weeks so I'm going to take a quick look around Hafjell, Hemsedal, Voss and Geilo on my travels (and do a bit of mountain biking and hiking hopefully). I'm hoping to book one of these for the winter.
Planning to go it alone rather than book a ski package, though the main difficulty will probably be the airport transfer.0 -
I was fortunate enough to move to Switzerland for work a couple of years ago. The whole family discovered the joys of skiing during our first winter and now we go most weekends during the season.
We mainly ski locally on the Jura mountains which are less than half an hours drive from us and they are usually pretty quiet and frequented by locals. We intended to explore further afield last season however my wife had a fall and fractured her kneecap during the first week of January which put paid to our plans!
Hopefully I can get her back on the slopes this winter.0 -
We went to Les Gets in January and plan to return again this new Year period.
It's a beautful resort. Onl 1 hour from Geneva airport and perfect for families.

We normally get flights for around 40 return with BMI baby and then book an appartment or chalet off the net.
https://www.snowheads.com has a great forum for questions.

We go to Whistler in Canada. It's an amazing resort with excellant ski schools (I dont even likle ski'ing and I love the place)
I have learnt using their group school and then I top up each time we o out with a private tutor for a day ( I ski well but I'm a bit scared of it lol) Hubby is now doing the black routes. My son is seven and ski's all over both whistler and blackcomb with the 5 day ski camp, my little girl is 5 and had her first year last year, she was doing the adults school slopes by the end of 5 days.
The atmosphere is brilliant and everyone is really friendly, the longest condola que we had was around 5 minutes at peak time. There is a supermarket within easy walking distance that is very reasonable and tonnes of differant places to eat. It still maintains a village atmosphere though.0
