My friend emigrated to Perth last year and we would love to emigrate. My OH too old so that is why I am trying to get chartered after trundling along for so long. However, I am 43 next week and time is running out for me too....

I would love OH to get a contract out there, but who knows...I would move like a shot.

We're both over 30 (i'll be 35 in July:eek: ) which is why we're thinking 5 years to get it done.

We're also both CAs plus I have foreign language skills so we've got points coming out of our ears:D .

Not sure how I'm going to break the news to Mum tho. I think she's hoping we'll have a couple of sproglets and she'll get to play Gran properly as my brother's two boys are with his ex and she's not very forthcoming on visits and such.

I wish we had started when we originally thought about it. It took 2 years from application for my friend to get out there.

Don't put it off too long. Its a bit like a baby, if you try to save for it the day will never come!

A guy I worked with went last year. He got a job offer from PWC in Feb and was in Aus in July. He was going on a temp visa to start with though...

Just a quickie to say I've put us down for the grocery challenge. Tomorrow will be spent going through cupboards to meal plan to use stuff up.

Will post more later in the weekend but am shattered now (told Hubbles I'd be in bed by 9 but got sucked into reading live on less then £4k thread then June GC thread:o  )

Totted up last week's spending. Overall I was a bit over budget (about £10) but compared to the £30-£50 I can burn through without trying that's progress so feeling quite pleased with myself.

On track for the grocery challenge too, partly because I have a fridge/freezer full of stuff from the last shop in May and I'm determined to used as much of it as possible without buying anything else. :A

We were at the Taste Festival yesterday and had a great afternoon despite the persistant rain. Our tickets included 'crowns' which could be spent on merchandise at the fair so we bought a lovely steak, some fruit juices (with a free mini cool bag which will be put to use for my lunches) some strawberries and some boerwors (sp?) - a kind of South African sausage which my husband craves constantly.

We also got a couple of free jute shopping bags so are hoping not to need extra carrier bags going forward. The only ones we should get now are the ones Mr T insists on wrapping fresh meat, cleaning materials and substitutes in. (Even though I go for the 'green' no bag option I still get an average of 5 bags per delivery:mad: ).

Anyway. A new week has started and I find the enthusiasm for saving is as strong as ever. I'll keep you posted.
